WEST PALM BEACH — About 125 people attended an emotional news conference Thursday morning at which attorney Willie Gary announced that he would go after "in a vicious way" those responsible for the police shooting death of a 16-year-old.
"We will not sit idly by and let this happen time and time again in our community," Gary said.
He also announced he would be filing lawsuits early next week against those responsible for Saturday night's shooting death of Jerrod Miller by a rookie Delray Beach police officer outside a teen dance at the Delray Full Service Center.

Gary, known as the "Giant Killer," has a reputation for defeating large corporations such as Anheuser-Busch, Bridgestone/Firestone and Walt Disney in court. He has handled racial discrimination lawsuits against Coca Cola, Exxon Mobil and Microsoft.

The kid was driving a car THROUGH the school for god's sake. If the cop hadn't killed him and he'd run someone over everyone would be asking why the cop DIDN'T shoot him.
The headline writer must be a 'new school of journalism' grad.
Go ahead and side with them. This cop could have just as well hit a bystander while he was shooting the kid in the back of the head in a moving car.
I have got real mixed feelings on this one but you can't go around shooting at cars.
However, we WILL sit idly by while our children skip class, flunk every course, join gangs and rob rape and kill each other and us by the tens of thousands every year. Not only that, we will cheer them on and spin them as "revolutionaries" and "misunderstood artists". Because remember, the death of a black person is only important when the killer is white.

As for the question about why Cogoni didn’t shoot out the tires of Miller’s car, which was voiced by many members of the black community, including NAACP leader Clarence Shahid Freeman who attended a press conference Tuesday, Chief Schroeder said it is a tactic he’s never seen taught.
