UAE diplomat flees U.S.; cited for soliciting 'teenager'
The Washington Times ^ | March 3, 2005 | Jerry Seper and David R. Sands

A top official at the United Arab Emirates Embassy in Washington fled the United States with his family during the weekend, just days after being arrested in Virginia on charges of soliciting sex from an undercover detective posing as a 13-year-old girl. Commonwealth's Attorney Randy Krantz said that he knew a request to the UAE to waive diplomatic immunity in the case was "a difficult one," but that he was "frustrated" that embassy officials did not show "good faith" in rendering a decision -- and instead turned Salem Al-Mazrooei into "an international fugitive cloaked in diplomatic immunity."

If an American, British, or Australian diplomat had done this in a Muslim country, there would be howls for "jihad" for the umpteenth time, followed by riots in the streets, flag burnings, etc.

As repugnant as this is, from a libertarian point of view, where's the crime? This was entrapment using a cyber teenager.

Mr. Krantz said there was no doubt about Mr. Al-Mazrooei's intentions when he took the four-hour drive to Bedford County to meet with the "teenager," noting that in one e-mail he said, "I know what I'm doing is illegal, I know that it is wrong," and in another, "If you've got a friend, maybe we could have a threesome. I could take you back to school."     He said the diplomat also had a MapQuest printout of the meeting location and a tube of KY Jelly, a sexual lubricant in his sport utility vehicle .

Gross. Even the UAE dude KNEW it was illegal. There's the crime...

Can't wait to rib him for it.
Of course, it's been a month or more since I last saw our UAE forum troll.
He's retread twice that I know of.

In a muslim country, doing it with 13 year olds is pretty much par for course. One of Mohammed's wives was something like 7 years old. (But he did not consummate the relationship until she was 9.)

If you discovered your teenage daughter setting up such a tryst, and decided to do something about it without notifying the guy that you were laying in wait for him, would that be entrapment too?

How far should the law be able to go to keep pedophile predators away from our kids? Should they have to wait until a perp actually engages with a kid? All too often, that tends to end up in an Amber Alert. What situation makes it Ok for law enforcement to be proactive?

Just a few questions because I tend to believe that it's Ok to use all means at our disposal to get rid of those who prey on children and they can take their "rights" anally in prison.

Oh, so we have to wait for the child to be molested before we act.

Great.

Few in the Muslim world are turned off by a high ranking Muslim raping a non Muslim girl. They'll just write it off as her bing a 13 year old Western whore or slut. Add the fact that this Muzz was caught in a sting and the Muhammadans really don't care

You've got that right. It's OK in their world to do the deed with kids, and a "sacrament" for "Allah Fubar" if they do it to a Western kid. Heathens.
