The little folks lost a big one -- Sir, would you please sponsor an amendment to the constitution to give us back our property rights that those activist idiots in the black robes stole from us yesterday?

Never Mind the Kelo, Here's Scott Bullock - (plaintiffs' lawyer on SCOTUS "Kelo" case! This is HOT!) -- He makes some excellent points, especially where he says that Americans are really furious over this bone headed (and very dangerous) decision.

When Leninists rule the nation - (SCOTUS decision bodes ill for American liberties) -- I've seen property as discussed in this thread and others include intellectual property, i.e. copyrights and patents. Wouldn't another form of property be my bank account? After all, it's just a place I store my "property" in a form that's easily accessible and transferrable.

LIBERAL LAND GRAB (Kelo et al. v. City of New London et al.) -- Kelo is the logical end product of a political philosophy that seeks generally to expand government power.  It did so this time, in spades.  And it is only the beginning, Freeport TX is trying to take a shrimp processing business from a company that has been at that spot since 1948 to make a marina for yachts and trendy restaurants.
 Eminent injustice in New London

Error In Judgment -- A beachfront developer's dream - take out 4 or 5 beachfront homes and put up your hotel. Tax revenue from such a project would tower over the property tax payments by the poor homeowners. "Poor" because they thought they owned their property, that their kids could inherit their home, that family traditions would remain traditions. Very sad.

Render unto Caesar [churches as a victim of eminent domain] -- How about the city’s argument that giving the land to Costco would provide better-funded public services? Judge Carter wrote, “If revenue generation were a compelling state interest, municipalities could exclude all religious institutions from their cities.”
And that's exactly the green light that the Kelo decision has lit. Increasing tax revenue generation is now a legitimate reason to exercise eminent domain.
