I thought he was fired by National Geographic / NBC. Even still, notice the media bias in the fact that the writer could easily have just written CNN instead of "US Cable News Network." I had to stop for a second. "US Cable News Network?," I thought.... Oh yeah, CNN. Geez, we don't want to tarnish CNN's impeccable reputation. <\sarcasm>

He was...unless CNN hired him afterward and fired him for the same reason (unlikely, given that Jordan was in bed with Saddam)
