President Bush had some strong words to Syria to get out of Lebanon, noted here.
He and Vice President Cheney welcomed and congratulated the World Series Cham-peens, the Boston Red Sox, who ended a drought of Biblical proportions with their first World Series win in 86 years. With Speaker Hastert and Senator Stevens, he presented the Congressional Gold Medal to Jackie Robinson's widow, Rachel Robinson, in the name of her husband.
In Arnold, Maryland, the president participated in a job training and education dialogue, linked here.
Secretary of State Condi Rice attended a one-day London meeting, info here, to discuss Iran's nuclear life, the Palestinians, etc. She put off a planned trip to Canada next month, a move seen as a rebuff over Canada's rebuff of the North American missile shield.
Senator Kerry positioned himself obscenely close to the president at Bush's remarks honoring Jackie Robinson.
Other than that crude interruption, enjoy today's visit to Sanity Island.
This is from a (married) girlfriend who has a deep love for our military.
I don't know that there are words that can describe what is being felt here [in the photo posted at #125].I believe it goes beyond words, it stirs my soul. There are a group of young men that live in one house here in town.
There are 5 of them, all single, all handsome and all Marines.
I stopped by one day because there was a bumper sticker on one of the trucks that is always parked there, and I wanted to find one for myself. When I knocked on the door, it opened wide and there stood a young man with a Marine flag draped on the wall behind him. A HUGE flag! Before I inquired about the sticker, I thanked each of them for what they are doing and shook their hands. A love story.
Well... to make a long story short, I now take cookies over to "my boys" and chat with them if they are outside when I am driving past on my way home. I "adopted" 5 boys that day and I am so proud to be a surrogate mom of not just a single Marine, but of 5 Marines! So....... this picture speaks to me in ways I cannot explain, I love it...
If I could, I would hug the older gentleman in this picture, and ask him to tell me a story. He seems like a living encyclopedia. His eyes, and the grip he has on the young mans shoulder.... it blesses me.
Yes....I thought the boys and girls were all bad this week...at least they didn't torture them when they told them they were voted off.
I'm glad they spared them the humilation of having to sing the same bad song that nobody liked in the first place.
I probably should have added a Potency Warning before the photo. It chokes me up each time I see it.
As a young lad baseball
On the campaign trail last year
The way he is looking at the baseball glove (is that the right term) I wonder if it is his glove.
Okay, mystery_ak said 'bring it on,' so here it is. You know who one of the people in this photo is, of course. The other two are a Senator and a Congressman. One is a Republican, one is a Democrat. Identify them and what party they were from. Bonus Question: Identify what state(s) they represented.
Ding ding ding ding, ding ding dong, tick tock tick tock, you're on the clock.
I love that little girl smiling at him in that last picture. Is that one of his granddaughters?
Who's that good looking guy with dark hair? :)
I don't think the girl closest to him is his granddaughter. The other girl looking out at the field is Kate, his oldest granddaughter, I think.
She's even brought in the heavy-duty industrial blowers for some of those pics, LOL.
FR mail to you
Ya got me....he's very familar and I think a Dem Senator...can't think of his name....I haven't a clue about the lady...should I wake up Mike?...LOL
You beat me to it LOL
The lady is Congresswoman Paula Hawkins (R-Florida).
Found it this afternoon thought it might come in useful LOL getting dad to bed now back in a mo for about 10 mins.
Better not wake up Mike. Let's just let sleeping husbands lie.
Ooops--SENATOR Paula Hawkins (R-Florida)
I know this Dem Senator....darn it!
The least known commandment is "don't covet".
In my mind, this is one of the wisest of the commandments, and one of my reasons for believing they came from God.
What human (except Hannibal Lector) would realize that coveting is the easiest way to undermine a society and a soul.
