Frankly, I don't think there's anyone other than Condi who could effectively carry-forward the "Bush Doctrine" in 2008 and beyond. Personally, I have to believe that by the end of 2006, a clear frontrunner for the GOP nomination will emerge, and they'll probably have Karl Rove's fingerprints all over them.
Yes"My2Cents"this is America strong Brytania"Margaret Thatcher"This person is strong!!!Thank you
I agree. There certainly doesn't seem to be anyone on the horizon right now who I'd trust to carry the Bush Doctrine forward other than Condi. Maybe Rudy, but he was damaged by the Kerik matter. Also, Rudy is too "liberal" for many Republican primary voters. I also have liked Sen. George Allen for a long time, but he'd have to leave the senate. History has proven time and time again that the senate is no place to be if you want to run for president.
I have always dismissed the notion of VP Cheney stepping aside in '06 or '07 to give a boost to someone for the nomination as just bunk. But I'm starting to come around on that. I could see Condi going from state to the VP slot, especially if the the good signs in the Middle East start to bear real fruit. From there, it would be all but totally clear sailing to the nomination.
