Ward was in uniform when he met Sharon, and in a business suit when he met Abbas. Maybe just a coincidence, maybe not. But interesting nevertheless.

They need to rush the USS Ronald Reagan, and accompanying task force, to the waters just offshore of Beirut. Wouldn't that be great? -- geopolitical realities at the time required Reagan to pull the Marines out of Lebanon after the blast which killed some 200+, but then to have the USS Ronald Reagan itself return to Lebanon to protect the outbreak of freedom in that nation. That's my dream scenario.

Frankly, I don't think there's anyone other than Condi who could effectively carry-forward the "Bush Doctrine" in 2008 and beyond. Personally, I have to believe that by the end of 2006, a clear frontrunner for the GOP nomination will emerge, and they'll probably have Karl Rove's fingerprints all over them.

The Reagan is not ready for her first deployment. Should come later this year, I think.
