So good to hear from you. I had to put my little 14-pound mixed terrier, Peanut, down last week. I found him in Alondra Park in Lawndale back in 1998. He had multiple fractures, a congenital heart defect and serious skin problems. They didn't think he'd live long. Yet I managed to get him through 6 1/2 years of a pretty good life. But he didn't do well in this cold, wet winter we've been having. I went home for lunch one day last week and found him pretty sick. The vets said he was in shock and his heart was failing. So I held him close while they put him down. Sigh. Although it's a road we're all going to travel, it never gets any easier.
As for your note that this is the first you've seen of this news, thanks. I knew I couldn't be the only one.

OH, WS, I'm so sorry for your loss.
I know your suffering.
Poor little guy, but thanks to you
he enjoyed 61/2 years of a GOOD and loving life.
