WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) Black drivers in Delaware pay higher speeding fines than white motorists, a newspaper investigation has found. The investigation by the Wilmington News Journal also found that some police forces ticket blacks in disproportionate numbers. Police agencies with inequities deny they engage in "racial profiling," but could not explain why disparities exist. Some black drivers, however, believe their skin color influenced the police officer. One is Andre Brown of New York, who said he was driving with the traffic flow when a Greenwood officer ticketed him for going 64 mph in a 35-mph zone in 2002.

I remember that study. It was quietly shelved by the MSM when it did not produce the desired data. The researchers apparently indulged in petty, selfish notions of objectivity and reason, instead of doing what they were paid for.
Such despicable notions have no place in the new progressive scientific method of polling the opinion of "scientists", and ostracizing those who answer "incorrectly".

Actually, I think previously non-driving immigrants who come here as adults in general are not great drivers, for the reasons I've mentioned. It's just that around here the asians are the most common and visible ones.

Another good one is when a driver is stopped for driver erratically and the officer smells alcohol, the driver always says he has only had two beers.. Could be. After all, there was that episode where Norm said he was only going to have one beer, so he had a pitcher.
Unlike the Williamson Co. Tx deputy who was pulled over for weaving in traffic, smelled of alcohol and told the RRPD officer, "I had a couple of pitchers of beer at Hooters".
The PD officer called his supervisor and his wife came to "pick him up" from the scene.

I remember highschool. The most disturbing accidents were caused by those students (female) who would drive cars into living rooms and through garage doors.

Bingo! Found it:
The Racial Profiling Myth Debunked
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/980675/posts
"The antiracial profiling juggernaut has finally met its nemesis: the truth. According to a new study, black drivers on the New Jersey Turnpike are twice as likely to speed as white drivers, and are even more dominant among drivers breaking 90 miles per hour. This finding demolishes the myth of racial profiling. Precisely for that reason, the Bush Justice Department tried to bury the report so the profiling juggernaut could continue its destructive campaign against law enforcement. What happens next will show whether the politics of racial victimization now trump all other national concerns."

"Do blacks speed more?"
Doesn't seem like it on the west coast. The black drivers I see are cruising low and slow.

Yeah, but do they get more tickets?

Just because a "disproportionate" number of violators are black does not provide evidence of racism. It does however prove that a diproportionate number were black.

Black drivers are ticketed more because they're awful drivers...plain & simple.

"Or maybe it was just because he was going 64 MPH in a 35 MPH zone."
That too. ;-) I think though that people from out of state and minorities are more likely to get pulled over though, like I said in my post. It's possible that he was just going with the flow of traffic and singled out. That happens a lot. We had a section of interstate where they were doing road work that was one lane on the westbound side for miles. Traffic was generally bumper to bumper. Often people from out of state were singled out and pulled over so they could run the digs around their cars. It's not at all uncommon for police to single people out for being out of state, being from a state where drugs often originate, being minorities or combinations of these things.
I can remember the first time I heard the term "DWB" (Driving While Black). I was in court sitting with an officer there to testify on another case and we we're having a conversation. He told me he pulls people over for DWB because he said if he pulls a car with several young black males over in the "right" part of town there is a 50-50 shot he'll find drugs, weapons, or warrants.
The thing is, he's probably right, or at least not far off in his percentages. It's the same thing with the guys pulling people over on the highway looking for drugs or money to seize. They know most of the stuff is coming out of Arizona, New Mexico, or California, after it comes up from Mexico. They know that mules often drive rental cars, and they know that mules are often minorities. When they get several of these "indicators," they know their chances for making a bust increase. They make a lot of money for law enforcement and prosecutors budgets from asset forfeitures on these busts, and they get a lot of recognition from their peers and a lot of the locals for making the big busts. That's their job and they enjoy it. Naturally they want to get as many busts as they can get and would be silly for them not to focus on making stops that might produce a big one. I don't really blame them for doing it, but it does end up leading to disparate treatment for people from different races and people from out of state.

Should have said:

People with diplomatic license plates are always the worst around here. LOL, they are pretty bad but soccer-moms in SUVs talking on cell phones are the ones I fear. Twice they have tried to run me over. Nasty lot.

And a good thing to. I would hate to see a White Guy get stopped for D.W.B. What is your point, Al Gore?

Did you go to my high school? I think teen drivers in general are pretty scary. I know I thought I was Mario Andretti back then. Several kids in my school died in accidents and there were plenty of the driving through house type where a lot of damage was caused but no one was seriously hurt. My poor brother-in-law was in two of the fatal accidents when we were in high school and he even had to make the tombstone for his next door neighbor who died in one of those wrecks because he happened to work for the funeral home that handled the kid's funeral. He's forty now and always drives under the speed limit. I'm just dreading the day my kids start driving.
