If this sort of thing happened on a regualr basis, I'd be inclined to agree more often to my daughter's requests to go to Chuck E. Cheese's. The usual floor show gets boring after the first 3 seconds. But, bean sprouts and high voltage? Now that's entertainment!

Chuck E. Cheese

WOW. They sure have their problems in Denver. back in the 80s there were four killings in a Chuck E. Cheese.

If this moron would have just stepped outside like he was asked to instead of turning confrontational, this would have never happened. I have no sympathy for him.

I'm sure some Freeper will compare this to Janet Reno and the Davidians.

Damn, those cops.

My brother is a cop and he recently acquired a tazer. I was over at my sisters house one evening visiting when he shows up in uniform (about to go on duty). I make some snide remark about his 'dart gun' because I know it's the kind of tazer that shoots out the fish hooks. He unholsters it, points it at me and pulls the trigger.

Now - mind you - I know it's got those fish hooks and I know it's gonna make me fall down, pee and slobber all over the place so when I see him point it at me and pull the trigger I think the worst is about to happen. However, he did not have the 'hooks' in place and all it did was make that loud 'crackling' noise as the static electricity was discharged. That didn't keep me from screaming like a little girl and dancing around like my pants were on fire.

The big dork.

So, did he pay for his meal or not? ;)

He needs to watch Chris Rock's video, "How Not to Get Your A$$ Kicked by the Cops."

All the dude had to do was produce a reciept and he probably could have pressured corporate for some free pies. I got three free from Pizza Hut after one of their managers called me a liar. Of course, I didn't insist on making a scene in the restaurant and have the cops called on me.

"They beat this man in front of all these kids then Tased him in my sister's lap," Mayo told the newspaper. "They had no regard for the effect this would have on the kids. This is Chuck E. Cheese, you know."

Yeah, they should just let him do whatever he wants, I mean, ignoring police when they address you is a sign of mental stability.  What else would he be likely to do, nothing that's what I say!

I'd feel much better about taking my kids to a place like that where chaos amongst adults could add to the chaos of the children.

In fact, I wish there were no cops at all, I mean, they're just a bunch of dopey doughnut eaters, right?  What would have been the best solution is for the Store Manager to have to deal with a lunatic lurking around the kids all by himself.  That way I could find out if he'd go the knife route, or the gun route.  That's a great thing for the kids, I think.

Another Me-ocrat to spend a little quiet time in the Naughty Corner to think about how his all-important gut is more important than the well-being of his own children or others'. All he had to do was show the manager his receipt or pay for his freeloading, but Me-ocrats like to think they have all the rights which no one else has.

Is there an end to this story? Did the guy have a reciept or not. If not, he brought it on himself. If he did, I hope he sues the crap out of everybody. I wouldn't be a cop for any amount of money, but there are too many Barney Fife wanna-bees out there with badges and guns.

"According to witnesses (Gale) refused to cooperate with police and a struggle ensued," said Larry Martinez, a police spokesman. He said that Gale became argumentative and shoved one of the officers, a fact disputed by another patron.

Can't anyone write a news story anymore? A disputed "fact" is an assertion. Why did the police spokesman quote witnesses instead of the officers, and that's horrible sentence structure. The opening clause leads the reader to believe that the reporter spoke to the witnesses. The reporter should have pressed the police spokesman to either characterize or refuse to characterize officer reports of their own actions. This would have led to a cleaner report, "The officers reported that Gale refused to cooperate, and state that witnesses corroborated the report."

This one doesn't pass the smell test. I think a little more investigation of officer conduct is in order. I'm not saying they did anything wrong, but if the other patron had no connection to the suspect, I'd look for other customers to get a better accounting.

Gale was arrested for investigation of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and trespassing.

What, no larcency? Wasn't that the original complaint?

A friend who's now dead used to tell us he walked a beat in NYC for years and never had to shoot anybody. He said he could always talk suspects down. Police don't do that anymore, a lot of 'em seem to just "shoot" first and ask questions later. (I'm including the taser when I talk about shooting, as well as use-of-force-arrests.)
