CIA Director Porter Goss' warning that al Qaeda might try to use "chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear weapons" in his Feb 17 testimony to the Senate Intelligence Committee overshadowed a more urgent intelligence warning. At the same hearing, Vice Admiral James Loy, deputy secretary of Homeland Security, testified that al Qaeda has changed tactics for inserting terrorists teams into the United States.
According to Adm. Loy, al Qaeda plans to use Mexico's proffesional people smugglers - known as coyotes - to infiltrate terrorist across our southern border. Adm Loy's information is based on recent interrogations and has been confirmed by ongoing counterterrorists operations.
'snip'
Ad. Loy attributes al Qaeda's interest in using Mexico as a springboard to the conclusion by al Qaeda's leaders that their "operational security" will be enhanced. They are right. Under current conditions, terroristtt can easily enter the United States undetected in the stream of of hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens who cross from Mexico annually.

The border should be closed TO ILLEGALS AND TERRORISTS!
-ping-
They're just coming over to commit the wanton, murderous acts of terrorism that Americans won't do! </ openborderslobby>
Yep, it should be closed period. That it wasn't done immediately after 9/11 is .....criminal.
bttt
Until the ports & borders are secured, the immigration laws are enforced, employers who hire illegals are fined and illegals are deported there will never be a victory in the "war on drugs", there will never be a victory in the "war on terrorism" and there will definitely never be "homeland security!"
And that's the bottom line!
Semper Fi,
Kelly
as I've said before here...if we have the technical capability to keep the curious from wandering into Area 51...why can't we deploy the same sensors and tactics along the border?
"CLOSE THE BORDER!!!!!", Says COCHISE County
No one testified that Al Oaeda had changed its method of operation or was planning to insert agents through the southern border.
The testimony was simply that a captured member had said it had been considered.
Considered, and IMO probably rejected because of the high risk of being caught compared to the very low risk of flying in using a valid tourist visa.
If only one man on a terrorist team got caught swimming the river, the whole mission would have to be abandoned because they wouldn't know what information he disclosed.
There has not been one single confirmed case of a terrorist jumping the southern border, just a bunch of rumors that proved false.
Israel has the right idea: a very tall concrete wall along border towns, and top it off with razor-wire.
Chain-link fencing is a joke. We're either serious about securing our borders, or we are not. Work with the Mexicans? The Mexican government is publishing pamphlets that assist its citizens in breaking our laws. And begin billing Mexico for every Mexican national we return.
A salient attribute of national sovereignty is the ability to control one's own borders.
I feel much better now.
Little late aren't they?
Don't forget Don Rumfeld.....

DOBBS: Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld is warning of the threat of terrorists entering this country through the same routes as those used by illegal aliens. Secretary Rumsfeld, traveling in South America, warned that enemies look for weaknesses and take advantage of them.
DONALD RUMSFELD, SECRETARY OF DEFENSE: The risk is that some of these human-smuggling routes into our country from this hemisphere could be used just as easily for terrorists.
DOBBS: And three million illegal aliens are estimated to be entering this country this year.
Secretary Rumsfeld also said the United States has to be, as he put it, smarter and quicker in securing our borders. The federal government's failure to secure those borders is leading individual states to take action. Arizona's Proposition 200, which limits state benefits for illegals, passed overwhelmingly two weeks ago. Now at least half a dozen other states are considering similar measures.
Just one question:
Who's the Scarecrow?
Those of us trapped in 56K dialup HELL appreciate it!
Vice Admiral James Loy does not know what he is talking about. He should talk bayourod. The rod has assured us that terrorist won't use the Mexican border, because the BP has shut it down to them.
Your post nails it again!
Not even the likes of Lanny Davis or Victor Camber can spin this stuff....but its fun to see people try.. try.. try....
