I could be wrong
But isn't that because when he ran for Senate after Paul Welstone died in the plane crash ... he made a promise to his voters (+Wellstone Voters) that he would vote against it
I read the other day that he did run on the opposition to ANWR, but since then he has considered voting for it whenever it has come up--
Now, he is voting against it, but hasn't given a reason--now if the reason IS because of a promise, I wish he would just come out and say so.
I would still think he is wrong, but I would understand. At this point I don't understand why a Minnesotan would be against this at all---
As far as I am concerned, anyone that is against it is crazy, the benefits far, far outweigh any negatives, IMHO.
Like I said .. I could be wrong, but I think it was because of a promise he made in honor of Paul Welstone
If I'm right about the reason .. I can't fault him for honoring a promise he made ..
Bryd is up talking about the Highway Bill
Off topic a bit
Yesterday I heard on the radio that Gov Fast Eddie of PA used money from the highway bill to bail out Septa
I totally agree with you---
Believe me, I like Norm Coleman, and really dislike even questioning his vote--so if it was a campaign promise, then so be it and I will withhold judgement about whether he is a RINO until there is more evidence.
Not to beat a dead horse (although that hardly ever stops me), I really liked Coleman's work on Oil-for-Fraud, and have high hopes. The ANWR vote may have been the result of giving his word, but now we have these Block Grants as well, so I guess we'll have to wait and see.
I don't know anything about block grants so I can't speak about them intelligently, but I know that on the House side, the dems are the ones fighting the hardest for them---
which makes me less than inclined to think they are the best way to spend our tax dollars.
Call me partisan, that's okay, because I am.
Hellary is up talking about family planning and it needs more money
Oh look .. Hellary is wearing her Green Suit with a Green Flower
Plus her hair is flat
Yeah, and Dingy Harry started the amendment by saying that IF the GOP is serious about reducing abortions, they will be FOR Hillbilly's amendment---right...
He also came off very bitter, and no one had even opposed it yet---that man is gonna lose it, I betcha!
Dang, did you hear that-26 amendments for at least 8 hours of votes today---
Are there any we really need to watch out for, or are in danger of passing?
LOL. That is a pretty good clue. Tax money comes into the federal government from the states. Then the states have to ask for their money back which they can get if they promise to spend it in ways that are acceptable to Washington. You can imagine how much I like that.
Which party is putting all these amendments up?
And is there a list of what they are?
I am hoping that OXEN does, but the Senators I have seen today are Coleman, Bunning, Clinton, Hutchison, Sarbanes, Burns, Chambliss, Kennedy, Feinstein,...
Not sure of the amendments by name but I know that some are for higher spending for agriculture, higher spending for Cops (Biden), higher spending for education, border control, homeland security, veterans..
You name it and there is an amendment wanting more money for it...
In other words, for all the bitching these guys have done during the last few years about the deficit, whenever it involved something important to THEM, the money must be there, or else the world will be ending SOON!!
and that is totally BI-PARTISAN!!!
On a good note, I think Sen. Gregg is doing a good job of trying to talk sense into these guys without acting overbearing, OR more importantly, wimpy!!!
THank you, that is a big help and much better than my memory which is awful---lol
If You're making a ping list, count me in.
Please check out my website under personal info...
Yeah that's it, but see that your link has "TEMP" in it?
It won't work in about 5 mins.
