I assume you were agreeing with me? If so, thanks.
The deadlock was broken behind closed doors when Southern Democrats agreed to support Hayes' claim for the Presidency if he would support increased funding for Southern internal improvements and agree to end Reconstruction, thus guaranteeing home rule -- meaning white control -- in the South. Hayes became President and the Southern Democrats could reverse with impunity the gains that blacks had made during Reconstruction.
You might educate yourself on the period before you dismiss the insurrection which was carried on in the south until the Tilden Hayes compromise which ended Reconstruction with precisely the political result the Klan wanted. In effect, the forces represented by a terroristic organization triumphed against the whole force of the federal government. But you can maintain your bravado if you like, and ignore history. Why do you think the North gave up the whole effort of Reconstruction and reversed every gain the Radical Republicans made on behalf of Blacks? It was not merely to gain the oval office. Most of the troops had been withdrawn by then from all but four states of the deep south.
My point remains, no society, is immune to destruction from terrorism.
Elwood: Illinois Nazis.
Jake: I hate Illinois Nazis.
Unfortunately, I remember this all too well. One of the murdered victims lived within a couple of miles of where I was living at the time. He was a basketball coach at Northwestern U., IIRC, not to mention husband and father of young children.
No she ruled against him and he threatened her. She has been a federal judge since 1982. Wonder if she had any cases with the Islamofascists. Hale thought she or her husband were Jewish though they were actually Methodist.
The only ones who claim that Enron was a defining moment for our nation are liberals.
Read it and tell me what Judge Leftkow's INITIAL decision said? Else, why would the "Foundation" need to take this case to an appeals court?
Leftkow was ordered by the Appeals Court to issue a new decision in the matter.
Hale then threatened to kill all sorts of people including Leftkow. He got convicted of that.
That is correct. I was going on the last decision.
Anyone else hear about the drivers' licenses? I'll ask my mom about her source later tonight.
You know, something doesn't add up here. Picture one of two scenarios -
1) Hale hired a professional hitman. PROBLEM - Why would a professional have killed non-targets?
2) Hale recruired a fanatic who was inexperienced. PROBLEM - Why didn't they wait around with the bodies until the judge came home?
Apparently the daughter came home and retrieved a bag or something, and noticed nothing amiss. Did she scare off the killer? PROBLEM - Why didn't they just kill her?
Another complication, especially if the actual triggerman isn't found - when the prosecutors try to pin it on Hale, his defense can argue that his prosecution for conspiracy provided cover for the actual killer who had a different revenge motive.
In any event, expect the libs to use these poor people's murders as an excuse to push for gun control.
