The U.N. representative in the Congo, American William Lacy Swing, may soon resign his post following allegations of widespread sexual abuse by peacekeepers, diplomats said on Monday.

This is a good sign.

The day's of "Let me be perfectly clear, I did not have sex with that woman" working as a pacifier are over!

We sure this feller's name isn't, "Scha-wing?"

Sorry, "Wayne's World."

My 2¢'s about the UN?

Neal Boortz has the right idea- kick them off US soil, plop them down in Haiti, and tell them, "when you get this straightened out, give us a call..."

Moreover:

--Sex abuse charges rock UN in Congo-
-- Interesting this is being posted today. Talk show host Dennis Prager had the Israeli Ambassador to the UN, Doree Gold, on his show today. Mr. Gold has just written a book about the UN called the Tower of Babble(i think this was the title). Some of the things he was saying about the UN were unbelievable.

--TV campaign urging: Kick U.N. out of U.S.-
"I say we just give the entire country of Haiti to the UN."--or move them to Zimbabwe or another country in Africa. Let them see what the really do for the world.

--UN knew of Saddam's oil-for-food thefts: BBC-
The sooner we resign from this corrupt organization and kick them off our soil, the better.

Click this picture & goto "last" for the latest UN scandals:

If you aren't informed about this stuff, you will be made sick. If you are informed, you will be made mad, all over again.

I sincerely hope that you are right, but it's important to remember that much of the world is still, for some insane reason, madly in love with Clinton and continue to see him as our greatest President ever (puke)

A similar, closely-intertwined demographic also see the UN as incapable of doing wrong and eagerly whitewashes all of it's innumerable mistakes, scandals, frauds, and various assorted crimes.

My hope is that any firings or resignations associated with this particular scandal will be meaningful and not merely scapegoating.  Based upon the UN's history, I am not optimistic.

Consider also that what we are dealing with is a terrible crime against innocent, vulnerable people.  We need far more than merely firings and resignations, we need meaningful criminal prosecutions.

As usual, Neal's insight cuts to the chase and provides a meaningful solution.

As usual, our friend Backhoe is right on top of things and is all over this issue  :-)

Good and evil have always existed and will to the end of time....

Love of evil and love of good is inherent to existence and will be with us always.

We all, as individuals, must make a choice between these two everlasting conflicting opposites.

I think it's time for bed....A philosopher, I'm not!

"We're subsidizing this larger than anyone else on Earth and we have a responsibility to make sure, as they're acting in our name, that there be a policy of zero tolerance," Smith said.

The fact of the funding asymmetry is only part of the problem. No policies? Probably no real rules of engagement. Ever changing commanders? Mixed force components not trained to any uniform standards? Diplomats occupying line command positions?

IMO Only a few of the problems with deploying such a force and virtually guaranteeing the inability to achieve any objectives (If any are actually clearly delineated) and making scandal and failure a virtual certainty.

I am wracking my furry stoat brain, trying to think of any true and tangible successes of the UN (things that they've done which have truly benefited people and /or created prosperity and a lasting peace among nations, not just lining the pockets of political fatcats).

I'm not having much luck  "sigh"

LOL - Maybe the UN needs to consider 'Outsourcing' these things?

Actually, they did.....when they passed Resolution 1441 (stating that there would be severe consequences if Saddam didn't immediately join the human race) the USA proudly and forcefully enforced their resolution.

Strange, the UN didn't seem terribly happy about it.

Perhaps it was because they knew that it meant that their fraudulent oil-for-food gravy train would be run off the tracks pretty soon.....

If true they need to be sent a bill for services rendered. Oh wait....The US pays most UN costs ... never mind.

Their happiness is dwindling more so lately, even with the support of France, Germany, and Russia (which IMHO will dissolve soon) for the workings are in place to blast the worldly deceit funneled through the UN wide open.
