Creation of "third a political force" in Lebanon
BEIRUT - the ex-first Lebanese minister Salim Hoss, personality moderate near to Damas, announced the creation of "third a political force". This one in particular intends "to fill the ditches which fissured the national unit" after the assassination of Rafic Hariri.
This "Platform of the national unit" must "crystallize the will of the parts not implied in the war between ' loyalistes' and ' opponents ', who exchange insults and show treason", declared Mr. Hoss with the press. The advertisement was made whereas a debate, stopped by the resignation of the government pro-Syrian of the Prime Minister Omar Karamé, beat his full at the Parliament.
For Mr. Hoss, "confrontation" between loyal supporters and opponents "are not on the basis of of a political program but electoral interests to the approach of the expiry of legislative" envisaged in spring.
This Platform "intends to act on two axes: to develop the democratic practices and to fill the ditches which fissured the national unit during last years ", added Mr. Hoss by preaching to this end the implementation of the agreement of Taëf.
This agreement (1989), which put an end to 15 years of war (1975-1990), stipulates a coordination between the Lebanese and Syrian authorities for a redeployment of the Syrian troops in the east of Lebanon, without explicitly mentioning a calendar for their withdrawal of the country.
Mr. Hoss claims a coordination between Damas and Beirut to establish this calendar, as well as the reactivation of the authorities of economic co-operation and policy between the two countries, created in accordance with the agreement of Taef but practically paralysed.
He resigns and immediately wants to form a "really fair" party?
This is not the Prime Minister who resigned today.
Prime Minister Omar Karami resigned today. Hoss was the Prime Minister three times in the past, the latest being 2000.
Oh, thank you; I have trouble with all these "foreign" names. I'd say they all look alike, but then somebody would pound me. :-)
