According to an ABC News Chicago, neighbors stated that before the conviction of Matt Hale there was around the clock protection but it had stopped right after that. Maybe that was poor planning are the Marshalls' part, if Hale had it done. Sometimes, because this vile creature was created downstate, the authorities don't take these things as seriously as they should. He is expected to be sentenced in April. His "church" may very well be washed up, but he had a web site and a great deal of publicity to recruit. One of his followers had an apartment in the town I live in and went on a murdering spree. He could have others.

If it is true that 24 x 7 protection stopped after Hale's conviction, it would go way past poor-planning on the Feds' part. It would be utter incompetence. I'm frankly surprised, as the government is typically quite zealous about protecting its own.
Hale solicited to have this judge killed. That's a serious threat - regardless of how crazy Hale is or where he lived - and should have been treated as such. Even though his "church" is largely done for, there are still followers (there always are - look at Charles Mason) and he clearly made the threat.
