TAMPA, Fla. - Terri Schiavo's parents asked a Pinellas court judge Monday to allow her to divorce her husband - in either life or death - in a court filing accusing Michael Schiavo of adultery and not acting in his wife's best interests.
The filing was one of a flurry of 15 motions filed by Bob and Mary Schindler as they now have less than three weeks to find a legal way to keep their severely brain-damaged daughter alive.
Terri Schiavo is scheduled to have the feeding tube that has kept her alive for 15 years removed March 18 unless her parents can convince an appeals court to block Michael Schiavo again. Michael Schiavo says he will have the tube pulled because his wife once told him she would never want to be kept alive artificially.
David Gibbs, the Schindler's attorney, said Pinellas Circuit Court Judge George Greer has indicated he will not hear the divorce request and five other motions filed Monday - but that only means that the matters are now on their way to being appealed to the 2nd District Court of Appeal in Lakeland........

My question was, do YOU suggest the Schindlers just give up.

"They've used quack medicine extensively--which, BTW, really hurts you when it comes up in court."
So true. One only needs to read the transcript of the 2002 trial with the 6 doctors to see Greer had no choice in that ruling, either.
Her personal Dr said he sees her do the things in the video even when she's alone in the room.
The 2 docs her parents chose were simply not credible. I wont even get started on Hammesfahr, who I think is an outright liar - though he was a lot more careful about what he said on the stand than he is is interviews and his "report". But the poor Dr Maxwell... sounded so nice, but clueless about coma and PVS, having them confused and not knowing what either truly meant.
I wouldn't trust her husband's doc, Cranford without double-checking, but the other 2 - especially the court assigned one, were just so credible and sensible. No unbiased jury would have found any differently than Greer did.
The Schindlers' lawyers had to know how bad it would look to objective observers that these 2 were the best they could find.

Are you hoping that Terri can somehow be saved or do you think the feeding tube should be removed?

Good pickup. Keep in mind, however, that the funds that are set aside for her care (should they win) may be in a lockbox trust; that's how I'd donate even if I trusted the folks. Second, he may want the money because every dollar they solicit for the legal fight is a dollar that doesn't have to come from treatment funds, and he knows Michael Schiavo has spent all the therapy money on lawyers.
