Feb 28, 11:57 AM ESTLebanese Government Resigns Amid Protests
BEIRUT, Lebanon (AP) -- Lebanese Prime Minister Omar Karami announced the resignation of his pro-Syrian government Monday, two weeks after the assassination of his predecessor, Rafik Hariri, triggered protests in the streets and calls for Syria to withdraw thousands of troops."I am keen that the government will not be a hurdle in front of those who want the good for this country. I declare the resignation of the government that I had the honor to head. May God preserve Lebanon," Karami said.
The announcement prompted cheers from more than 25,000 flag-waving demonstrators protesting against the government and its Syrian backers outside the parliament building.
And of course, when I turn on FNC, where are they? On snow in DC and NYC.
I'm turning on CNN/MSNBC.
These are indeed historic times.
The Purple Revolution is spreading! :)
Freedom, pass the word!
Gosh, you're right!
Fox is talking about the weather.
Thanks to your ping I see MSNBC and CNN covering real news.
Perhaps the new government would allow our troops in to pick up Saddam's WMDs from the Bekaa Valley...
There's only one word for these developments: BREATHTAKING!
LOL - hence the name?
Monica Crowley calls it "nothing short of breathtaking!"
I flipped on the TV to see coverage of this and am shocked--I didn't know Michael Jackson led the Lebanese government!
Howlin, I'm confused.
Leftist intelligentsia and technocrats told me Arabs and Muslims don't understand democracy and don't want it. How could the left be wrong?
History-being-made bump.
Baghdad was the root.
The rest of the tree is just dying slowly.
Probably, but it's more fun to think otherwise. I'd've loved to be a fly on various walls when this was decided.
Yes! Winds of change.
Of course, little Ronnie Reagan saying that we have to watch out for "backsliding."
Well, let's always try to look on the bad side of things!
I missed this on Fox and had it on...but I've been busy doing chores so rescind my criticism. It was my fault I missed it.
Super Mega Dittoes to that!!
Someone had to say it!
And in keeping with those sentiments...
Moose, cheese, bit my sister, Set us up the bomb, Stuned, Beeber, Daschle deeply saddened, Bush knew, It's Bush's fault, This is hugh, Are you series?, Make/Mark your time, All your Syria are belong to us.
There. Now there are NO EXCUSES for someone trashing the thread with all that garbage!
Monica's been peeking at my posts. :)
