BISHOP LYNCH, phone umber-727-341-6830-modern day pharisee!

EVERYONE: Please call and leave a voicemail for Bishop Lynch. I just called (had to leave three messages, the first too furious, the second an apology, the third, because I got cut off, referring to the fact that his advisors, the diocese LAW FIRM gave the maximum FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS to JUDGE GREER (thanks for this info-Scoop1 !), and I spoke to the fact that he needs to get himself over to see Terri with her parents, that LOVE is what rules, that he should be well aware that Michael lives with a mistress and has two children, great home, drives a Mercedes while Terri rots in a barren room, with no stimulation, or Catholic religious symbols allowed in her room due to Michael's orders.

I pleaded with him to forget the politics and become a voice for God, a leader of his flock, a man who puts LOVE above all. I asked if he had EVER tended to the Schindlers in the hell they undergo.

I WISH I had had the article Chocolate Rose just posted to refer to....it speaks to the lack of attention Bishop LYNCH has given to Terri and her family....

PLEASE CALL BISHOP LYNCH at 727-341-6830.

I don't want to be the only voice on that machine tomorrow morning.

Please speak to his breaking with the Pope. That his washing his hands of it is not unlike Pilot. That he MUST act now that he knows of Michael Shiavo's lifestyle, ask if he knows of the bone scans that indicate Terri was abused, ask if he knows that Terri responds, ask if he has EVER used his voice to HELP TERRI's parents, tell him you will write the Vatican, that the POPE needs to know more about this case and Bishop Lynch's FAILURE to act as a Man of God. Tell Bishop Lynch that he leaves a retired priest, ALONE, without support, to handle this incredible burden.

Remind him that the world is watching, that his friendship with Greer, or his lawfirms friendship has not gone unnoticed.

This is NOT political. This is spiritual. And this is about LIFE AND DEATH.

If he has been listening to the wrong people ( probably his attorneys) he now knows a little of the flip side, only an INKLING, and he needs to ACT.

He has a responsibility to work for life. His press release was the stuff of cowardice and corruption.

Like I wrote, how I wish I had been armed with the post Chocolate Rose just made a few posts up, especially the part down about 2/3 that speaks to the Catholic group being so disappointed in Lynch's lack of concern.

Please USE THIS in your voice mail...let him KNOW that his name is out there, with the words that he has NOT STOOD UP FOR LIFE.

PLEASE DON'T LET MY VOICE BE THE ONLY ON ON THE MACHINE TOMORROW IN LYNCH's OFFICE! Again. The number is

727-341-6830

And if you cannot call, perhaps cannot afford it, whatever, please EMAIL this man at

VI@dosp.org

God Bless Everyone. Help fill this Bishop's office with Terri's plight.

Where Are the Catholic Priests, Pro-Life Group Wonders
Susan Jones
Morning Editor

(CNSNews.com) - The American Life League says now is the time for Roman Catholic priests -- especially Terri Schindler Schiavo's own bishop -- to offer prayers for Terri's safety.

"Bishop Robert Lynch of St. Petersburg and his brother bishops across Florida and the rest of the United States must not let Terri die a painful death while they quietly sit by and do nothing," said Judie Brown, president of American Life League.

Brown says every Catholic priest should be "preaching from the pulpits on why one can never remove food and water from a person whose death is not imminent."

Although Terri Schindler Schiavo is severely brain damaged, she breathes on her own. Videotape shot by her parents shows Terri propped up in her hospice bed, wide awake, and appearing to respond to her mother's attention.

However, at her husband's insistence, Terri's food and hydration tube will be removed on March 18, unless Florida Circuit Court Judge George Greer reverses his order.

Michael Schiavo insists that his wife told him long ago that she would not want to be kept alive artificially if it ever came to that. The courts have consistently sided with Michael Schiavo and against her parents, who want to keep her alive.

If Terri's feeding tube is removed, it might take several weeks for her to die from starvation and dehydration. Terri's family and supporters say it would be an excruciating and inexcusable way for anyone to die.

"We call on Catholics everywhere to pray for Terri and for the spiritual conversion of her husband, Michael," Brown said in a statement. "All Christians -- clergy and lay people alike -- must display true courage and stand against this injustice. Terri is not dead yet and we must do all we can to prevent that tragedy from occurring."

The American Life League says Catholic priests should be participating in public vigils and prayer services for Terri -- and pressuring public officials to do everything possible to protect a woman whose "basic civil rights are being tragically trampled upon."

The Florida Catholic Conference released a statement Feb. 28 stating its "continued concerns for Terri Schiavo," but Brown said that doesn't go far enough.

"To the best of our knowledge, there has been a tremendous lack of effort from the Florida Catholic Conference -- and in particular from Bishop Lynch, who is Terri's bishop -- to assist in this situation.

"Time is running out for Terri, but we encourage people not to give up hope," Brown said.

Fla. bishops: Let Schiavo receive care that will benefit her

By Catholic News Service

http://www.the-tidings.com/2005/0304/schiavo.htm

With a March 18 court-imposed deadline for removal of the feeding tube that keeps Terri Schindler Schiavo alive, the Catholic bishops of Florida reiterated their plea that the brain-damaged Florida woman will continue "to receive all treatment and care that will be of benefit to her."

In a Feb. 28 statement of "continued concerns for Terri Schiavo" released by the Florida Catholic Conference, the eight bishops said they recognize that questions about her prognosis and her wishes persist, raising doubt about what she would truly want at this point in her life.

"No longer able to speak on her own behalf, Mrs. Schiavo is a defenseless human being with inherent dignity, deserving of our respect, care and concern," the bishops said. "Her plight dramatizes one of the most critical questions we face: To be a truly human society, how should we care for those we may not be able to cure?"

Bishop Robert N. Lynch of St. Petersburg, the diocese in which Schiavo resides, asked that one last effort be made for mediation.

"Normally, at the end of life, families of the person 'in extremis' agree that it is time to allow the Lord to call a loved one to himself, feeling they have done all they possibly might to provide alternatives to death, every possible treatment protocol which might be helpful has been attempted. There is a peace," Bishop Lynch said.

"This will not happen in this instance because of the seeming intractability of both sides," he added. "I beg and pray that both sides might step back a little and allow some mediation in these final hours."

Terri Schiavo's parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, are against the removal of their daughter's feeding tube and they found new support for their fight in the words of a Vatican cardinal.

Cardinal Renato Martino, president of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, told Vatican Radio Feb. 24 that if Terri Schiavo's husband, Michael, "is legally able to provoke the death of his wife, this would not only be tragic in itself, but it would be a serious step toward the legal approval of euthanasia in the United States given the weight which court decisions have in the formation of laws in that country."

Michael Schiavo --- who remains legally married to Terri Schiavo but now has two children by another woman --- says his wife would want the feeding tube removed. Her parents say their daughter would want to live, in part because of her Catholic beliefs.

In the Vatican Radio interview, Cardinal Martino recalled a recent message from Pope John Paul II to the Pontifical Academy for Life, in which the pope reaffirmed "that quality of life cannot be interpreted as economic efficiency, beauty or the enjoyment of physical life, but it consists in the supreme dignity of the creature made in the image and likeness of God."

"No one can be arbitrary about it except for God himself," the cardinal added.

Pinellas County Circuit Court Judge George W. Greer ruled Feb. 25 that Michael Schiavo could order doctors to remove the feeding tube at 1 p.m. March 18.

In January, the U.S. Supreme Court refused without comment to review a lower court decision overturning the Florida law that allowed Gov. Jeb Bush to order reinsertion of the woman's feeding tube when it was removed for six days in 2003.

Terri Schiavo, 41, has been impaired for the past 15 years. She can breathe on her own but requires nutrition and hydration through a feeding tube.

A resident of a nursing home in Pinellas Park, she has been receiving food and water through a feeding tube since 1990, when she collapsed at her home in St. Petersburg because of what doctors believe was a potassium imbalance. Her brain was deprived of oxygen for several minutes.

The Catholic Medical Association, citing a talk last year by Pope John Paul, said in a statement that the withdrawal of food and water from Terri Schiavo "constitutes euthanasia, a gravely immoral act" and "represents a violation of her constitutionally protected right to life and a violation of her religious freedom as a Catholic."

"Please join us in prayer on behalf of Terri, her family and our country, that by the grace of almighty God some intervention will save her life and save us from the inevitable consequences if she were euthanized," the statement added.

In their Feb. 28 statement, the Florida bishops summarized Pope John Paul's March 2004 comments about nourishments for patients in a so-called "vegetative" state.

"Simply put, we are called to provide basic means of sustenance such as food and water unless they are doing more harm than good to the patient, or are useless because the patient's death is imminent," the bishops said. "As long as they effectively provide nourishment and help provide comfort, we should see them as part of what we owe to all who are helpless and in our care."
