Today, Bishop Robert Lynch issued a statement regarding the removal of Terri's feeding tube. Bishop Lynch indicates that he sides with Michael Schiavo's pursuit of Terri's death. Lynch wrote, "At the end of the day the decision to remove Terri's artificial feeding tube will be that of her husband, Michael. It is he who will give the order, not the courts or certainly the governor or the legislature or the medical personnel surrounding and caring for Terri."

Lynch continues, "In other words, as I have said from the beginning of this sad situation, the decision will be made within a family. A significant part of that family feels they are outside of the decision making process and they are in great pain and suffering mightily."

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRG!

What is an' artificial feeding tube?' anyway? Either it provides a direct route to the stomach or is doesn't. Is he saying Terri's was a fake tube? HUH?

Or is he using words to sway people to the creepy Michael Shiavo, felos crap that feeding tubes are extraordinary measures!

This is a SICK PUPPY!

Terri NEEDS her church....and a leader is MORE concerned with his standing with greer, the newspapers than his FLOCK?

Who is this man who parades as a man of GOD? He seems like a Pharisee Jesus spoke of who regularly FORGOT the spirit of the law and became full of themselves.

This statement published today by Lynch needs to be SENT TO THE VATICAN via overnight mail along with a few articles on how the SCHINDLERS have suffered from a lack of support from t he bishops and leaders in their beloved church....Lynch is a pharisee, not a man who loves the laws that PROTECT THE INNOCENT.

That he places this in Shiavo's hands DOES NOT REMOVE THE FACT THAT HE HAS NOT WORKED TO FREE TERRI FROM AN UNTIMELY AND GRUESOME DEATH.

This man needs a strong word from the Vatican. Fast.

Survey says....BUZZZ! Wrong answer, Bishop Lynch.

Pathetic. Weak. Cowardly. No pop to that statement. Simple-minded and safe. Not at all a message of faith or courage in humanity. Try again.

So much for Lynch. He's akin to the silent pastors in Nazi Germany only he has the gall to speak for death!

amdgmary,
I had a lot of work today and saw your post with the link to the statement of the Bishop of St. Petersburg.
I was floored. I'm not Catholic, let me say that first off, but didn't the Bishop get the news that the Holy father in Rome said that removing food and water, even if provided through a tube is against Catholic teachings? I actually was so amazed with the statement, I transposed it from the Adobe File so that I could post it in it's entirety. It is below-
STATEMENT OF BISHOP ROBERT N. LYNCH Bishop of St. Petersburg The Bishops of Florida have once again addressed the issue of the withdrawal of the artificial feeding tube form Terri Shiavo. As in the past, I join them in addressing this comple and tragic situation. As the local bishop and pastor for all the family parties involved, I would like to add the following. At the end of the day (the judicial, legislative days) the decision to remove Terri’s artificial feeding tube will be that of her husband, Michael. It is he who will give the order, not the courts or certainly the governor or legislature or the medical personnel surrounding and caring for Terri. In other words, as I have said form the beginning of this sad situation, the decision will be made within a family. A significant part of that family feels they are outside the decision-making process and they are in great pain and suffering mightily. I urge and pray that before the finality, one last effort be made for mediation. Normally, at the end of life, families of the person in extremis agree that it is time to allow the Lord to call a loved one to Himself, feeling that they have done all they possibly might to provide alternatives to death, every possible treatment protocol which might be helpful has been attempted. There is peace. This will not happen in this instance because of the seeming intractability of both sides. I beg and pray that both sides might take a step back a little and allow some mediation in these final hours. The legacy of Terri’s situation should not be that of those who love her the most loathing the actions of one another but of a heroic moment of concern for the feelings of each other, guided by moral and ethical considerations, with a single focus of achieving the best result for Terri. I ask the Catholics of the Diocese of St. Petersburg in the waning days of Lent to pray hard to the “Author of All Life” for Terri and her family.
