"WASHINGTON (BP)-At a March 10 news conference on Capitol Hill in Washington, Sen. Sam Brownback, R.-Kan., said a new bill to aid Schiavo was on an expedited route and has the potential for immediate Senate passage. Senators are being asked if they object to the Incapacitated Persons Legal Protection Act, with the hope a unanimous consent agreement might be reached on the bill, he said. "

This is good news, BUT I just called Rep. Sensenbrenner's office and they said it wasn't scheduled to be heard until Wednesday. Maybe we need to concentrate on the HOUSE now.
I asked the gentleman if we could get the bill expedited, but he said that couldn't discuss that on the phone. So now I'm going to call the rest on this committee to see if they can expedite it.

The JUDICIAL COMMITTEE is headed by Rep. Sensenbrenner and is next to hear the bill.

I'm not having much luck with my calls to the Judicial Committee. I'm trying to get the bill expedited. Most of the phone screeners are real nice, but some don't even know about the bill. I've asked them to have the Congressperson expedite the bill like they have in the Senate.

It looks like it is mainly up to Rep. Sensenbrenner to expedite it. I think we need to flood his office with calls. Wednesday is just too far away.

U.S. Representative Dave Weldon, M.D. (FL-15) introduced H.R. 1151, the “Incapacitated Person’s Legal Protection Act.” This bill would explicitly clarify fundamental due process rights for those who are incapacitated, are under court ordered removal of nutrition and hydration and have no written advanced medical directive in effect.

The JUDICIAL COMMITTEE is headed by Rep. Sensenbrenner and is next to hear the bill.

ALL - READ THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got through to Sensenbrennes office, and after I got through I got bumped up a level. I spoke with a Judicial Committee Legislative aid of Sensenbrenners.

I hold the name for right now.

He said that sensenbrenner is Chair of the Judicail Committee, I already knew that, and is 100% behind the law that people can not be euthanised without an attorney and due process.

He said that Sensenbreer is FAST TRACKING THIS. It will be in the Judicial Committee next Wednesday where it is expected to pass.

he said that they are working witht he Senat so that the House Bill and the Senat bill will hve the exact same language so that there is no delay reconcilling the bills for a differerence in wording.

He talked to me about many things, he specifically said that for convicted murderers we don't starve them to death because that would be cruel and unusaly punishment. He said that he was amazed that Florida would permit this.

All in all, he had no hesitation at all that this would pass the Judiciary committee and his personal committment along with Sensenbrenner, to fast track it throught he United States House of Representatives.

So good news on that score. I think we can stop calling the Judiciary Committee and the rest of you can work on calling your Representatives. Mine is already Sensenbrenner, so I can check that box as done. Now have to call Senators Finegold and Herb Kohl, Kohl is on the Senate Judiciary Committee. Good for Wisconsin being on some pertinent Committies!!!!!!
