The Caring Man

I remember the first time I had heard all about a caring man who resided in our country. He traveled extensively throughout the world talking to people about hostage situations, torture, and freedom in America.

I had heard all about how the caring man had explained to foreign countries how America does not tolerate torture, hostage situations, nor the killing of innocent people.

I was told the caring man possessed an incredible gift articulating the values of human life. How he had a wife and children, and a high regard for the family bond.

Many throughout the world claimed how much the caring man truly supported and valued human life. They explained that if he was asked, he would surely come to help Terri, a disabled 41 year old woman held hostage in the state of Florida by an estranged husband named Michael Schiavo. I was repeatedly encouraged by many to make contact with the caring man.

One day, I decided to painstakingly write the caring man and share with him Terri's story. I thought it best to also enclose a picture of Terri and her mother Mary. A picture depicting a loving mother and her daughter. What could possibly speak truer words?

I explained to the caring man how loving and close Terri's family, (The Schindlers') are to each other. I told him all about the travesty and torture which had occurred on two prior occasions, when they were forced to watch their daughter be starved and dehydrated. I told him how witnessing these acts had strengthened their resolve to save Terri.

I shared how Terri had a loving brother and sister who spent everyday of their lives pleading for their sisters life. I told him how they had asked everyone they met to join in helping them to save their sister from being held hostage and from being tortured via starvation and dehydration. I told the caring man how Terri's estranged husband Michael Schiavo, and his pro-death attorney were going to stop at nothing in order to kill her.

I carefully articulated to him how the family had been begging the courts for the opportunity to take their disabled daughter home with them so they could properly care for her in their warm and loving family home. I explained how they had asked for nothing in the way of money to care for her. All they wanted was to take their daughter home and give her the life that they as her parents had committed to giving to her when she was born. I told him how Terri loved life, animals, children and the outdoors, but how she had not been permitted out of her institutionalized room for well over four years.

I conveyed how her estranged husband, the ("so-called legal guardian") had claimed to love her, but also wanted to kill her because he claimed she would not want to live like a disabled person. I shared how her estranged husband had made claims to the court of her not wanting to live, only days after awarded over a one million dollar settlement that had been paid to him to provide her care. I told the caring man how Michael Schiavo had used the money awarded to Terri to hire and pay pro-death attorney George Felos, to help him arrange for the legal murder of Terri by pulling her feeding tube.

I shared with him how Michael, her estranged husband, had melted down her wedding rings and made jewelry for himself out of the gold from Terri's wedding bands. How his former girlfriend Cyndi Shook had stated she truly felt for Terri's situation and had wanted to share all she knew about Michael. Yet, how she had feared for her own life because of how Michael had stalked her. I told the caring man how Michael Schiavo had euthanized Terri's healthy cats; how there was a nurses affidavit stating how Michael had inquired, "when is that bitch going to die?" And, how for well over nine years he has been residing in a house with another woman named Jodi Centonze, fathering two children with her, while still legally married to Terri.

I explained to the caring man how I was also taught by my parents to always be a conscientious American and to help people if I saw there were wrong doings in my own country.

In my letter, I finally asked the caring man if he would consider one act of kindness to help Terri. I asked if he would please help Terri by visiting Florida and giving the same wonderful lecture to the Florida judges that he had been giving to the rest of the world about hostages, torture and the value of life.

I had thought to myself, if what I was told by many was really true about the caring man; how he had really believed in saving human lives who were held hostage, then he surely would be interested in a visit to Florida to help a disabled American woman who was held hostage. I convinced myself that he wouldn't mind bringing forth the same inspirational message about torture and hostage to the people in Florida.

I concluded my letter by giving him the address of where Terri was being held hostage. I alerted him to the fact that Terri was being watched 24 hours a day, 7 days per week by a paid policeman to prevent her family from taking her home, out of her room, or for even a walk in the sunshine.

For 14 consecutive months, I continued to send the caring man letters via three different routes; via email, fax, and postal mail. When I heard the caring man was coming to the Tampa Bay area to talk about social security, I gathered a group of supporters and with our "Please Help Terri" signs we rushed to hold them up in front of the car he was in as he had driven by.

Patiently I sat waiting, hoping to receive just one acknowledgment from him.
Sadly and regretfully, to date, no word has come from the caring man.

As you may have guessed by now, the caring man who I have been desperately trying to reach is the President of the United States, Mr. George W. Bush.
To my dismay, President Bush, arrived, visited, and departed Florida on numerous occasions without one word, one call, or even one mention about Terri.

The invaluable lessons of Caring, Torture, Hostage, Freedom and the recognition of human life that is lectured by the President of the United States of America should first be demonstrated on American soil before preached to the rest of the world. A lesson I pray that not only President Bush will someday convey, but so will all of his successors.

**If you think Governor BUSH cannot place Terri into protective custody, think again..he surely can!

**If you think President BUSH cannot help Terri, think again. Remember, he can pardon prisoners and arrest men in other countries who torture and hold people hostage. If he cannot pardon the innocent and the disabled from being tortured and murdered in the United States of America, then its time to WRITE HIM and ask, why not?
