Technically, the GOP did not support George W. Greer's "renomination." ...
**********
Last year, I was doing some computer work in favor of the challenger to Greer, and we thought we were making some headway, when all of a sudden we got a report that the Pinellas County GOP headquarters was doing a mass mailing (several hundred thousand pieces) to all registered Republicans in the county, to support Greer for re-election. The excuse given was that after all he is a registered Republican. Despite the fact that a judicial race is non-partisan, it is not actually illegal to send such endorsement material, even though it was highly unethical.

So in fact the GOP headquarters staff certainly did support Greer, even if we suppose the county committee as a whole and the registered voters were unaware of it.

That is interesting, did the challenger complain to the Secretary of State?

Thanks for the information. I didn't know the GOP had actively supported him.
