Prayer vigil for Schiavo draws crowd
Citing the Atlanta judge's killing, a monsignor tells the crowd that the judge who ordered Terri Schiavo's feeding tube removed could be "in danger."
By JAMIE THOMPSON
Published March 13, 2005
PINELLAS PARK - They came from as far away as California, Pennsylvania and Georgia and stood along the grassy roadside in Pinellas Park, praying out loud and asking, once again, for a miracle for Terri Schiavo.
More than 100 people gathered for a seven-hour vigil on Saturday outside the Woodside Hospice where Schiavo lives. A judge has ordered her feeding tube removed on Friday.
A parade of people took turns on a makeshift stage, lined with long-stem roses and baby's breath, calling the crowd a "modern day religious Calvary." Young men and women took turns holding a wooden crucifix on stage, a rosary dangling from Jesus' neck.
Speakers, including religious leaders from Virginia and New Jersey, urged the crowd to continue writing letters to lawmakers, signing petitions for the impeachment of Pinellas-Pasco Circuit Judge George Greer and trying to persuade hospice nurses to refuse to participate in the "scheduled killing" of Schiavo.
In remarks to the crowd, Monsignor Thaddeus Malanowski mentioned the recent killing of an Atlanta judge. Greer, Malanowski said, probably will need more security now. He said he hopes "the judge sleeps well at night. His life is in danger."
More than a few people snickered.
Later, Malanowski, who has served in Largo churches and often visited Schiavo with her parents, said he meant nothing by the comment, except that all judges, particularly Greer, likely are taking security more seriously in light of the Atlanta incident.
He said the crowd assembled Saturday was peaceful, and no one was advocating violence.
David Gibbs III, an attorney for Schiavo's parents, said he had not heard anyone threaten Greer, and that neither he nor Schiavo's parents would tolerate it.
"We've told everybody, we're going to take the right stand, in the right way, with the right spirit," Gibbs said. "We've heard nothing among Terri's supporters, and if we did, we would report it immediately to law enforcement."
Actor Mel Gibson spoke by telephone to Schiavo's father, Bob Schindler, on Friday, telling him to "never give up," said the Terri Schindler-Schiavo Foundation. Gibson faxed a statement saying he opposed the "cruel starvation" of Schiavo, and that her husband should sign over care to Schiavo's parents.
Schiavo, now 41, suffered severe brain damage in 1990 when she had a heart attack. Her husband has been fighting for seven years to remove her feeding tube. Her parents are fighting to keep her fed.
A Pinellas judge ruled Schiavo's feeding tube could be removed after hearing testimony at a trial that she would not have wanted to live that way. Twice she stopped receiving food and water, then the decisions were reversed.
The rallies will continue outside the hospice, with 24-hour vigils starting Wednesday.

Watch Felos and Greer cook up a strategic "fear" of the public outcry and any rallies, crowds, etc., .. and feign concern about the risk of violence, in light of the obviously recent tragic courtroom events. Wouldn't put it past them at all.

Thank you. One problem that I had with Shuller is that he had Senator Lieberman on his show who is pro-abortion, including partial birth abortion.
So I have to wonder just how pro-life he is.
However, if he is on Terri's side, he's not all bad.

Didn't Lisa McPherson have to sign over her assets to them as a member? Maybe I'm confusing them with another cult.

TEXT OF MY E-MAIL TO THE GOVERNOR:
Dear Sir:
It has been said that you think there is no constitutional power in the Governor's Office enabling you to save the defenseless Terri from a horrendous, suffering death, simply because Judge Greer has ordered it.
Would you personally kill Terri if you were a doctor, a nurse, a hospice employee under order of Judge Greer to remove her feeding tube and deny her food and water? Would you stand by and watch her suffer and eventually die, as her family dies a thousand deaths themselves, if you were someone of equal importance to a judge and you could do something - anything - to spare her?
I don't know the truth of what is said about your thinking, but I implore you in the name of all that is good and decent and lawful, to use your co-equal statutory power to stop the Judicial torture and murder of a child of God who is not PVS by the account of many, many medical experts, priests, attorneys and Terri's family. And who left no written instructions, nor did she verbally indicate that she would want to be starved and dehydrated to death.
Are you aware that Greer refused to allow her to be seen by anyone who can diagnose and treat her currect condition? That he rejected any updating or reconsideration of her condition? That he refused to allow her experimentally fed by mouth, or given swallowing tests or swallowing therapy? That several years ago he said for the record..."I don"t wan't anyone trying to feed that girl...the law of the case is that SHE IS GOING TO DIE!"
Are you aware that in court he can be seen literally doing and saying only what George Felos tells him to do and agreeing only with George Felos, who is a Euthaniasia advocate and proud of it?
Who sneaked Terri into a hospice on which he served as a board member, when she was not dying and had a life expectancy of many many years? And that Medicaid was used to pay for her even though she was never certified as terminal because she was never terminial unless Felos succeeded in having her killed?
Do you know that her estranged husband will immediately cremate her body so that no one can investigate her condition at time of death and that means her many fractured bones, and evidence that she was originally strangled, will be forever covered up?
Are you aware of the hellish suffering of her loving family?
Sir, you and the Legislature have co-equal powers with the Judiciary. If anyone has advised you that Judge Greer has superior power to yourself because he is a judge, I think you have been improperly advised.
Terri must be protected until the matters connected with her case, in all their particulars, are addressed. Greer is absolutely wrong for ordering her death, period, but he is especially wrong for doing so at this time and under these conditions. He is acting like being a Pinellas County Judge is like being God.
Please prove him wrong, Governor Bush. Please, do your duty before God, Terri Schiavo, and the people of your state, nation and indeed - all of Mankind.
Yours for Justice & Mercy,
To: txrangerette

Didn't Lisa McPherson have to sign over her assets to them as a member? "From 1991 to December 1995, when she died, McPherson, according to financial records, spent more than 175,000 dollars on Scientology courses, counseling and materials. In three years, her "donations" to the "church" totaled from 29 to 55 percent of her income. In the last year of her life, which ended with her 17-day incarceration in Scientology's Fort Harrison hotel in downtown Clearwater, she had given 57,000 dollars to Scientology."
"The investigation into those last 17 days, in the course of which she was under constant observation by members of Scientology, also revealed that huge donations were being made to the "church" as its parishioner was dying."

Oh The Humanity!

Is there any doubt that there's something seriously wrong with a judicial process which leads to the prohibition of the care and feeding, by her own parents, of a brain damaged woman? Of course, the woman to which I refer is Terri Schiavo.
We've all become aware of Terri's situation in recent years, and the attempts by her husband, Michael, to have her feeding tube removed, based upon his assertion that Terri once told him she would not want to live if ever she became as severely disabled as she has since become.
The Schiavo case has been batted about the legal world for 7 years so far, which is a truly scandalous fact in my opinion. Frankly, I'm astounded that it was ever allowed to be argued in a court of law beyond the initial 1998 hearing, but like Ted Kennedy's backside, this case just seems to go on and on.
There are some people within the legal community who have taken a position on the matter which is contrary to my own, but the logic by which they've reached their conclusions is fundamentally flawed, and their demeanors are indicative of what I can only describe as utter soullessness.
Terri Schiavo never penned a living will, which is a document created by sound-minded individuals to elucidate their wishes, should they become unable to express them due to the onset of a debilitating and seemingly irreversible medical condition.
In light of this fact, it should have been assumed from the start that Terri would want to live, no matter what her apparent condition, if any possibility exists of her being able to think and feel. The contention by Michael Schiavo and his lawyers that Terri is necessarily devoid of any mental and emotional substance whatsoever, is absurd on its face, and any judge who is incapable of recognizing that is not competent to sit on the bench.
My own mother spent her last days of life in a catatonic state worse than Terri's, following a long battle with pancreatic cancer. I was told by several doctors at the time that it was impossible to determine if people in her condition had the capacity to understand spoken words, or experience emotions.
Yet, both my father and I behaved as if she could, whispering comforting thoughts to her and stroking her forehead as she lay motionless in her hospital bed. You see, although we didn't know for a fact that what we were saying was getting through to her, we had to assume she could understand our words. To do otherwise was unthinkable to us, as I suspect it would have been to most anyone in our position.
Perhaps we were merely deluding ourselves at that point, but we both understood that if we were to err, it was far better to err on the side of humanity and compassion. It was never a subject of debate between us, and I cannot imagine that any other family would have acted differently under similar circumstances.
But my personal experiences aside, it seems to me that Terri Schiavo is due the same rights that every other person in this country enjoys. To deny her those rights, based upon the unsubstantiated testimony of her husband, who has behaved like a complete louse from day one, is prejudicial at the very least.
Those who've declared categorically that Terri would want to succumb to starvation and dehydration, a truly horrifying prospect, and that her parents should have no say in the matter, deserve to be locked up and deprived of food and water themselves for a few days. Perhaps then they'd be able to appreciate the consequences of what they're suggesting.
Basic human decency dictates that we give Terri the benefit of the doubt that she desires to go on living, even though she is unable tell us so. I may not be the smartest man in the world, but I do know that her life deserves to be treated with more respect than certain law practitioners have exhibited toward it. No human being can know what is in the mind and heart of this woman, and for anyone to say that they can is arrogant in the extreme.
I'll tell you something else as well. If Terri were my daughter, I'd be damned if I'd just sit around and watch as she was forced to endure a slow, torturous death, merely because some black-robed nincompoop said that's the way it has to be. You'd have to put a gun to my head to stop me from making sure she had all the food and water she needed. But that's just me.

Was that a FReeper who just called Joe Watkins radio show?
She was very knowledgeable about Terri and did a terrific job.
RIGHT NOW Philly radio talk show host Joe Watkins talking about Terri on 1210 AM radio. He is VERY pro-Terri.
If anyone wants to call the # is 215-839-1210
I e-mailed him this to maybe even increase his passion:
My favorite video of Terri is the one where she laughs when her dad reminds her of when she used to tease her mother, and roll her eye (Terri had "lazy eye").
If anyone wants to see this video, which only takes a minute, visit:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/bloggers/1345652/posts?page=28
Then go to Post #28 & click the link.
Keep in mind when Terri makes sounds, she is attempting to talk, but needs therapy in order to talk. Even without therapy, Terri can say a few words. Sadly, Michael won't allow her to have ANY kind of therapy.
