PRESIDENTIAL NEWS OF THE DAY: The President and First Lady attended St. John's Chruch in Washington this morning. The nation's governors are in Washington this week for their winter National Governors' Association meeting, and the President and First Lady are hosting a formal dinner tonight in the White House for them. I waited as long as poosible hoping some photos of the dinner would appear on Yahoo. But it's after 5:30pm Pacific, and none have appeared yet. So thise Dose is going up without them.
California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenneger waved the green flag to start the NASCAR Nextel Cup race in Fontana, but left shortly afterwards. No word on whether or not he was to fly immediately to Washington for the dinner. Look for various cabinet secretaries to speak at various sessions of the governors' meeting during the week. Although there is no word as to their schedules, the President and Vice President often attend at least one Governors' Association session.

You've brought Iraqis to Bratislava to see firsthand how a nation moves from dictatorship to democracy. Your example is inspiring newly-liberated people. You're showing that a small nation, built on a big idea, can spread liberty throughout the world.
At this moment, Slovak soldiers are serving courageously alongside U.S. and coalition forces in Afghanistan and Iraq. Some have given their lives in freedom's cause. We honor their memory. We lift them up in our prayers. Words can only go so far in capturing the grief of their families and their countrymen. But by their sacrifice, they have helped purchase a future of freedom for millions. Many of you can still recall the exhilaration of voting for the first time after decades of tyranny. And as you watched jubilant Iraqis dancing in the streets last month, holding up ink-stained fingers, you remembered Velvet Days. For the Iraqi people, this is their 1989, and they will always remember who stood with them in their quest for freedom.
Yes, amazing how they played the clips of the enormous cheering crowd greeting our Pres over and over and over for the last couple days (sarc/).

We didn't vote "NO" on fashion comments, did we? The First Lady looks wonderful! But I jsut don't like the 'one color coat with different color pants' on the President, tho it seems to be his Sunday look. Wait a minute--with another look I see that his jacket matches Laura's hair. LOL! And of course the 'subject' in the 'different color pants and coat' is very handsome so . . . :-)

Yep! I love this man so much. Everytime I look at him my respect grows for him even more. Laura's just gorgous and very classy. We are blessed to have them in the White House for 4 more years. We better enjoy it while we can. Not sure who's gonna be in ther next!

It was most amusing listening to the media yesterday and today talking about how the WH would be surprised (shocked, caught off guard etc.) that Russia was going ahead with giving Iran nuke materials.
The Bush administration knew full well that Putin would push forward with this, no matter what Bush said to him. They knew it weeks, months ago. It's the PRESS that doesn't have much of a clue from day to day.
I've gotten so bored with TV infotainment, even Fox (except for Brit's show). 90% of what they say is yesterdays news, we are waaaay ahead of what's going on here on the internet. And they never give full reporting either.
For instance, FoxNews was reporting about a program that gets youth to sign up financial supporters and fast for 30 hours in order to collect $$ to fight hunger. Fine and good. But a complete reporting of the story would have included that many countries including powerful lobby efforts in Europe actually prevent food and grains from going to hungry countries because of the genetic engineering issue. Not a word of those little detail gems.
Just stale bread for the masses. Bah.

Saw the coolest thing about sunset as I was taping around a window . . . looking out at the cows and their little calves running around . . . and about six deer were running thru the pasture with them. Some of the cows took off running too . . . looked like they were chasing them but I think they were just startled. It was absolutely beautiful. (go ahead, call me a country hick if you want to!)

Hi, snugs. Thanks for monitoring the thread yesterday after I left. Looks like the debate was lively, and that's good. Yep, I like that blue jacket, too, except for me, personally, I prefer looser fitting clothing. Don't like quite so tailored a look on me. But Laura carries it nicely.
