VISITS to New South Wales by three royals and a president would generate priceless international publicity for the state's tourism industry, Premier Bob Carr said today.

Australian-born Crown Princess Mary of Denmark and her husband Prince Frederik will today attend a state luncheon in Sydney as part of their trip to Australia. Israeli President Moshe Katsav will arrive in Sydney this morning, and Britain's Prince Charles, who is due to arrive in Perth tonight, will visit Sydney on Friday and the NSW town of Gunning on Saturday.

"While we are honoured to host the tours, there can be no underestimating the benefits for our tourism industry of this international publicity and exposure," Mr Carr said.

All I can say is thank God I get all my news over the net or from the papers, and can ignore the 10 minutes or so of dribbling about the royals that the TV news reports seem to think is a good idea.

One of my house-mates was watching the news a couple of nights ago and I was lucky enough to catch the fascinating breaking news that Our Mary had eaten a bowl of chips.

Womens Weekly has already bought the interview rights from the Sydney cafe owner about her eating habits. The front page headline of next months edition will be "Is Our Mary A Fast Food Addict ?".
