Nation Under Seige - Congress unwilling to deal with illegal immigration
The Reporter ^ | 02/27/2005 | Kris Reason

America is becoming a back alley for the world's criminals, derelicts, vagrants and terrorists. Because some in Congress are too inept and partisan to strengthen our pitiful border security and immigration laws, 20 million illegal aliens, including Arab terrorists, have waltzed into our country and escaped prosecution. And this number is rapidly growing. These noncitizens are parasites who live off the prosperity of honest, hardworking Americans, and send their tax-free income back into their native country.

The terrorists who have illegally made their way into our midst are profiting from our economy, while plotting to mass murder us; these monsters are willing to wait for years to achieve their goal and Americans are inadvertently subsidizing them.

In addition, many Mexicans who enter the country illegally are hardened criminals who are fleeing from prosecution in Mexico. Twenty-five percent of the incarcerated criminals in America are illegal aliens, according to debate on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives. And in California alone, more than 1,000 are outstanding on noncitizens who are wanted for felonies. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that for the sake of Americans safety, every illegal intruder should be deported.

Recently, the House of Representatives narrowly passed the House Bill 418, promoted by Rep. James F. Sensenbrenner, R.-Wis., that provides for driver's license and visa reform, stronger border patrol, a security fence for three miles of open U.S.-Mexican boarder, the deportation of illegal aliens, stricter asylum laws and guidelines for immigration judges. The bill, which replaced the measures that Congress stripped from the 9/11 Commission's recommendations, was hotly debated in the House.

This is absurd. The bill should have passed overwhelmingly, without any debate, because the United States is at war and border security is crucial to our national security. There is a real possibility that Sensenbrenner's bill may not pass in the Senate because self-serving, obstructionist members of Congress - like Ted Kennedy and Nancy Pelosi - are willing to put 282 million Americans in danger, and protect 20 million lawbreakers who don't belong in the United States.

In Arizona, the legal citizens finally got fed up with the federal government's indifference to their problems with noncitizens who are draining their social services and raising the crime rate. Arizonans took illegal immigration into their own hands by putting Arizona Proposition 200 on the ballot. The bill requires voters to have valid proof of citizenship and denies social benefits to illegal aliens. The initiative passed by a 56 percent margin, despite opposition from politicians. It's interesting that 47 percent of Hispanics voted for it.

In addition, the Arizona government is billing the federal government for the cost of incarcerating criminal noncitizens. Other states should follow Arizona's example and demand accountability from both Congress and President George W. Bush.

It is virtually impossible to deport undocumented citizens once they are in the United States, thanks to our liberal courts. The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that immigration judges cannot take action against aliens who lie about their real identity. Also, U.S. asylum laws are so broad that foreigners can obtain refugee status using false identities. This makes it impossible to find them once they disappear in our country. Other loopholes in asylum laws have enabled known terrorists from terrorist countries to gain asylum in the United States. One of these terrorists has been caught plotting to blow up a shopping mall.

The lenience of the U.S. judicial system toward illegal immigration is demonstrated by the fact that noncitizens are allowed to pursue one more step in the appellate process than are legal citizens. This gives illegal aliens more rights than tax-paying, law-abiding Americans.

Illegal aliens are also grossly polluting the environment at the U.S.-Mexican border. After sneaking over the border, they congregate by the thousands in places like the Tijuana estuary where they wait to be transported into the United States. The illegal migrants have turned these areas into huge dumps that contain biohazards like syringes, diapers, garbage, feminine hygiene products and human excrement. The U.S. government is not doing anything about this dangerous pollution.

In addition to Sensenbrenner's bill, Congress should enact laws that penalize with fines, criminal charges and automatic IRS audits employers who hire illegal aliens. This would deter both the employers and the illegal immigrants from profiting by breaking the law.

It is ironic that several people have been kept out of government office because they employed one illegal alien. Yet businesses have been employing thousands of noncitizens for years. Bush's hypocritical guest worker program would only be fair to the American people if illegal aliens who are already here are deported and then re-enter the country legally.

The American people should write to their U.S. senators and demand that they enact the most elementary principles of border security and immigration control by voting for Sensenbrenner's bill. If it is not passed in the Senate, we will continue to be plagued by a growing number of illegal aliens who endanger the safety and integrity of our country.

They are waiting for an organized effort to bomb a major site with major casualties. They waited years for 911, and it sure caught us by surprise, did it not??

I'll bet you'll find that it will be multiple strikes in multiple cities causing mass chaos and mass casualties. I don't think anything short of this would get the attention of our pols and the pro-immigration folks in the US.

Ineptitude ain't the problem. They're too busy trying to find a way to make a buck to care what happens to the rest of us as a result. And that's both parties. They're all dirty. I believed in the Pubs till they got a foothold and proved themselves not much better than what we chased out of Washington to begin with. "Politicians are like a stalk of Bananas. They're yellow. Why else would they advocate the outsourcing of the manufacture of rope?

Like I've always said. One set of rules for them and another set of rules for us. We lose.

Yes, the solution is simple. And we should through Internet, talks shows, and other sources go after politicians who are opposed to our laws being enforced.

Our military should be protecting our borders. A far greater danger exists from open borders than Iraq. The WMD were a blatant lie, Saddam has been removed, elections have been held, we have killed lots of Iraqis and destroyed much of the country -- and our troop are still dying there.

BTW, I just phoned the Fairfax County, Virginia school hotline about school closings. To my surprise (maybe it shouldn't be) I was told to choose the language I wanted the information.

Yet businesses have been employing thousands of noncitizens for years.

And it looks like a popular gathering place for illegals will continue to be a safe haven.

The WMD were a blatant lie,

Actually I thinking they were concerned about the equipment that President Reagan sold them during his term in office. That was some pretty nasty stuff.

Here we are shocked at the mass murders but there is never any relation to the fact that we sold it to them.

How many languages did you have a choice of?

You asked about pollution......

GREEN CARDS AND GANGS

Siskiyou County, California, Feb. 26, 2005

They come from Mexico for jobs by way of a document called a “green card”. Such immigrants are termed “legal permanent Residents” with many of the same rights as US citizens outlined here,

o To live permanently in the United States provided you do not commit any actions that would make you removable (deportable) under the immigration law (section 237, Immigration and Nationality Act).
o To be employed in the United States at any legal work of your qualification and choosing.
o To be protected by all of the laws of the United States, your state of residence and local jurisdictions.
o To vote in local elections where United States Citizenship is not required. Click here for more details on voting.
Exceptions
o Some jobs will be limited to United States Citizens because of security concerns.
http://uscis.gov/graphics/howdoi/PermRes.htm

Today Siskiyou county Sheriff Rick Riggins and Captain Mike Murphy presented a slide show and details of Marijuana growing operations on federal forest land as a warning to residents of the dangers of happening across one of these farms. These operations are spearheaded by various Latino gangs, one being the powerful, well armed MS-13 gang that began in El Salvador. Sheriff Riggins stated that his biggest problem in combating this scourge is his office being labeled, "racist".

On Sept. 11, 2004, one such farm was busted by the Sheriff with help from BLM and the forest service netting thousands of plants and several Mexicans who either held green cards or were awol from the Mexican military and in this country illegally. These raids are no simple task as the terrain is nearly insurmountable and usually remote, however one growing operation was within 2 miles of the city limits of Etna, California. Resources are limited in such small counties, with little help from federal officials, even though this organized criminal enterprise has been going on in these mountains for many years. Homeland Security says such operations are not their concern.

The gangs are back this year getting ready for next falls harvest to be distributed across the US. Their supplies and equipment will be brought in from the cities and deliveries to replenish them are undertaken at night every few weeks. The farms are guarded at all times.

Slides of the “camps” complete with a “hooch” for living were shown. Huge pits are dug, one big enough for an SUV, for garbage and waste. The trees are cut or skinned to pile “moats” around the farms to camouflage them. Black irrigation pipe is buried for miles to get water to the plants. The environment on our national lands is being degraded by these operations, destroying habitat and watershed purity.

We saw the AK-47’s, axes, shovels, a . 22 rifle with the name “ Los Pleves” scratched on the stock. We saw notebooks of the growers with markings of MS-13 and a drawing of a Lexus that one “immigrant” intended to buy with the drug profits.

Most of the farms appear to be run by the same organizations mostly through the Mexican Mafia year after year. Though a few are busted, a substantive dent has not been made and they know they can operate here more safely and profitably than in Mexico and there is no worry of getting the product back into the states.

Across the border in Oregon, the story is the same. The Sheriffs of Jackson, Josephine and Klamath County work together to find the farms and arrest the perpetrators. All have been Mexican so far, most with green cards. These same gangs also brew Methanphetimine to finance their organized crime activities during off season.

We do not need yet another “guest worker” program to supply dangerous gangs with recruits. We need to find out why these people were ever allowed in this country in the first place and how to keep more of them out.

when Congressman Issa subverted the effort right before the filing deadline by providing 5000 signature's instead of the promised 100,000

Proving that he's a cut-out who was told to submarine the initiative. You can guess who put him up to it.
