Lithuania head may miss Moscow party --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Russia will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany May 9, but
Lithuania's President Valdas Adamkus may turn down an invitation to attend.
Adamkus would neither confirm nor deny the report but said in a statement he would listen to public discussions on the matter before giving his final word, Russia's St. Petersburg Times reported.
I have my own opinion on this question, but I have to approach the Lithuanian public, to discuss everything in detail and then make a decision, Adamkus said.
Lithuania, one of the three Baltic States, was incorporated into the Soviet Union in 1940. It was captured by the Nazis but retaken by Soviet troops in 1945.
Among the three Baltic States, only Latvia's President Vaira Vike-Freiberga has said she will go to Moscow. But she also made it clear that she does not consider the Soviets to have liberated Latvia, but to have occupied it. Estonia is yet to respond to the invitation.
Avoiding enslavement by the Nazis (the German Army went around them), the Baltic countries were immediately gobbled up by the Russians and enslaved by the Russians
There is no love here. I know many a Baltic oldtimer who was conscripted into the Russian army, escaped, and managed to get a boat ride to the quarries and mines of Pennsylvania.
There is no love for Russia.
There is no love for Russia especially if Russian leaders supporting Stalinist version of history as a official one.
