MOSCOW. Feb 27 (Interfax) - The destruction of cultural and Orthodox monuments is continuing in Kosovo amid unsuccessful attempts to settle the Kosovo problem, said Alexander Melnik, president of the St.Andrew the First Called Foundation and National Glory Center.
"About 200 Orthodox churches, mostly 10th-13th century architectural monuments, which survived the 500 years-long Turkish yoke, have been destroyed in Kosovo since the KFOR international peacekeeping force and police units arrived in Kosovo in 1999," Melnik, leader of a Russian delegation to a humanitarian mission in Kosovo and Metohia, told Interfax.
"The number of destroyed Orthodox churches has increased from 120 to 190 in Kosovo since the beginning of 2004," Melnik said, citing Professor Ljubis Folic of the Pristina University.
The serious destruction was due to Albanians-provoked clashes with Serbs and peacekeepers in March, 2004, he said.
Serb media reported in March, 2004, that the death toll from the clashes exceeded 30, and 500 were wounded, among them 61 policemen and 35 KFOR servicemen. Three thousand Serbs were forced to abandon their homeland. Their homes and Orthodox churches were destroyed or burnt down.
"These figures show yet again that the UN is incapable of settling the Kosovo problem and that the Serbs have fallen victim to a policy of genocide," Melnikov said.

No surprise that the U.N. isn't interested in saving Christians.
NOT!
Destroying church and synagogues is SOP for Muhammadans. They dynamited 48 synagogues in Jerusalem in 1948 war. Mecca should be obliterated just for the heck of it. Just to see their frothing at the mouth. Just to see the massive collective conniption fit when moongod-allah fails to protect his most holy.

During Israel's War of Independence in 1948, the embattled, under-armed Jews of the Jewish Quarter managed to hold out for only two weeks before surrendering to the onslaught of Jordan's Arab Legion. Jewish women, children, and elderly were driven out through the Zion Gate, while the Arab mob virtually at their backs set their homes ablaze. Some 58 synagogues and Torah institutions were dynamited and destroyed, including the landmark Hurva Synagogue, the largest and most majestic synagogue in the Middle East.
Churches...but I'm sure that no harm has come to the museums!
/sarcasm
The Clinton/Democrat Party legacy of supporting islamofascism.
BTTT!!!!!!
The former conservative party leader has turned into a fully fledged internationalist, EU federalist and of course anti-Israeli (or worse).

And he is right. Its Albanians versus Serbs.
Yes it is, but cultural and religious differences do play a role, don't they?
The differences between the nationalities really aren't that pronounced, but they are enough that the Slovenes, Bosnians, Croats, Macedonians and Kosovar Albanians all wanted to gain independence from Belgrade. And the Montenegrins are trying now.
Just watch our Balkans posters argue over what language is really spoken in Croatia/Bosnia/Serbia; or are the Orthodox Churches in Montenegro & Macedonia separate entities or part of the Serb Orthodox Church; or whether its FYROM or Macedonia or whether Macedonians are actually Greeks or Bulgarians or Serbs. The Albanian national hero is named Skanderbeg--there are posters on here who will argue that he is really a Serb.
So, as an outsider who's spent a lot of time in the Balkans, I'll say that they really don't have many differences, but they sure know how to make the most out of the ones they have!
