Biden Says Hillary Is "most Difficult Obstacle" in 2008 Presidential Stakes The Associated Press
WASHINGTON (AP) - Sen. Joseph Biden says any Democrat who wants to run for president in 2008 should keep in mind these three words: Hillary Rodham Clinton.
"I think she'd be incredibly difficult to beat," the Delaware Democrat said Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press." "I think she is the most difficult obstacle for anyone being the nominee."
The former first lady and Democratic senator from New York insists that she plans to run for re-election in 2006. But speculation persists that she might run for president in 2008.
"She is likely to be the nominee," Biden said. "She'd be the toughest person and I think Hillary Clinton is able to be elected president of the United States."
Biden said he is thinking about running again, 20 years after his first failed bid for the White House because "there's a lot at stake."
One way or another, chatty Joe Biden gets himself noticed
Al Mascitti (oft called Mosquito) is a bit of a gadfly, but occassionally knows how to hit a nail. And he can have an ascerbic wit. For good or bad, folks in Delaware prefer not to get on Al's bad side, although his picking on one doesn't necessarily mean he doesn't like you.
Hillary has made it quite clear several times that she does not want us little people making eye contact with her.
Do not assume, do not presume, that all people are acting at all times in their own self-interest. Herself will adopt a foreign-policy stance that almost exactly mimics that of George W. Bush, work for a compromise on Social Security that preserves the tax aspect and introduces a private savings account for the individual, probably by raising the participation of the employer while leaving the employee participation unchanged, and going to the position of greater control of our borders in stopping as much of the illegal entries as is possible, while greatly expanding both amnesty and limits for legal immigration, with much lowered requirements. This will allow Herself to appear both sagacious and magnanimous, normally considered to be great virtues. But for Herself, it shall only be a pose, and the Stupid party will fall for it, while the Treacherous party will nod in appreciation that Herself is carrying it off.
"....we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor." (Last line of the Declaration of Independence.)
Well, umm, you know, the success had reached a point where it was, you know, politically harmful to ignore it. I've always said we were doing things right in Iraq.
"No right mind conservative will change their mind to go for that broad, and she will attract only the same brain dead that Lurch did."
There are a lot of voters who voted for Reagan, George H Bush, and George W Bush, but voted for Bill Clinton twice in between. W's victory hinged upon a fairly sizeable number of voters who weren't "right minded conservatives."
Also don't forget that Hillary will be dividing and conquering the right, just as her hubby did with Perot. Her recent comments about illegal immigration hint that this tactic (which John Kerry never figured out) will likely be utilized again.
Run Newt against her. He won't back down like a wuss. He'll turn the race into an election of ideas. Ideas--that's where Hillary has no credibility.
"She has a brilliant Hollywood PR team working around the clock to give her a new celebrity superstar image."
I am just waiting for Chelsea to get married. Imagine how much free publicity the Clintons will get on Oprah and the View. Hillary will be on stage (and on camera), crying her eyes out as she talks about giving away her little girl.
It's the swing voters, not the conservative voters that could put her in office.
Political memory has a short half life. Swing voters typically pay attention a few months or weeks before the election. What she did 5 or 10 years ago would be irrelevant to them, particularly in light of the fact the MSM will refuse to report it, or make her answere any difficult questions.
Only the blogers stand between Hillary and the White House.
Perfect analysis. How about knocking her out of the nomination. All pubbies register Dem & vote for her opponent.
three numbers for you Biden: 911
Watch Rice.
Based on recent performance, the MSM won't even exist in 2008. Blogs will rip her a new one.
From your lips to God's ears.
However, I think she will run, and will be a formidable candidate. I shudder at the thought. Who do you think the Republicans will run in 2008?
"All pubbies register Dem & vote for her opponent."
Now there is an interesting idea. The dems would catch on though and register Repub. Then we would have the situation of the dems picking the repub nominee and vice versa.
What an interesting election that would be.
"the MSM won't even exist in 2008"
I think it will exist, but probably not in it's present form. I think what we saw in the last election that in response to the blogosphere, the MSM dropped much of their pretense of non partisanship and overtly campaigned for Kerry.
I look for more main stream conservative outlets like Fox and abandonment of the pretense of unbiased reporting from the rest.
