Alan Keyes did NOT disown his daughter. Please get the facts straight.

Parents are to discipline their children.

Proverbs: "Spare the rod and spoil the child."

That discipline comes in many forms, such as excommunication.

1 Corinthians 5:
11But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner--not even to eat with such a person.

That is what Alan Keyes is doing. Tough love.

!. There is no proverb which says "Spare the rod and spoil the child" That is a line from a play by Hudibras.

There are proverbs which recommend hitting sons. Rehoboam was the result.

2. There is not one line in the Bible which says you can hit daughters. Although you may sell them and the owner may beat them.

I'm offline for a bit.
