Funny you should mention raccoons. I was up at Incline Village, Lake Tahoe, today and saw one of the biggest raccoons I have ever seen. Unfortunately he didn't cross the road fast enough.
We almost ran over the biggest darned porcupine I've ever seen in the road the other day. Luckily for us it was "almost". The sucker had to weigh 30 pounds.
