From Larry King's 2003 interview with Michael Schiavo:
"KING: What about charges you abused her?
SCHIAVO: The Schindlers made accusations that I strangled Terri. It confuses me, because before any of this came to light, don't you think the doctors at solitary, when it first happened, would notice marks around her neck? And if I strangled her to the point of unconsciousness, her trachea would have been crushed."
I remember at the time of the interview when Michael gave this answer, it sent cold chills up my back. This is not the kind of answer that a person falsely accused of a crime gives. This is the kind of answer that person looking for an alibi gives.
The part about "her trachea would have been crushed" is the kind of answer that gives me the willies about this man. I mean he could have tried to smother her by holding a pillow over her face, or being as large as he is at 6'6" and 250 pounds, he just could have squeezed little Terri tightly around the ribcage and stopped her breathing that way. Neither of these methods would have caused her trachea to be crushed, but it still would have cut off her oxygen supply.

Excellent. You took the words right out of my mouth. While reading the first para above, I was thinking exactly what you were thinking. That is a scripted ready-made answer for an alibi.
Also, someone trained in medical terminology might speak that way.(benefit of the doubt)
Also, someone who knows medicine and knows what would reveal a physical attack, attempted murder, or maybe even having planned out causing coma-like incapacity by starving the brain long enough to damage it, but not to totally kill. A plan to file some lawsuits, get some money, expecting a reasonably quick death from complications.
I know, far-fetched, I must admit. But this is a man that brags about starving his own parents to death. A man who alledgedly speaks of his wife as "Has the bitch died yet?", because he is anxious to get home to his girlfriend and their two children.
