(begin cut-and-paste)

we could spend hours reading through pages and pages supporting conspiracy theories on JFK's assasination, September 11, even the Holocaust. the difference is that there are records that could easily put this debate to rest [on one front] - Michael's financial records. quite obviously this isn't going to happen anytime soon. but more than 14 years of professional medical care MUST have sapped the vast majority of it.

(end cut-and-paste)

Shame on you...

Yep. But unrepentant. The thread was starting to sound ridiculous.

Btw,there's nothing wrong with Terri. She doesn't drool. Hope you saw my other posts about it too.

Ideally her parents should file for divorce on behalf of their daughter since NO woman would want her husband living with his second female and now has two children with her.

Already attempted and rejected by his Honor George W. "Haman" Greer.

Eye tracking and Emotional responses are the most common ways of determining whether a patient is responding, and therefore no longer in a vegetative state. The first sign of a patient emerging from PVS is the localizing of the eyes on a visual stimulus. This can be observed because persons in a vegetative state are unable to track moving objects or fixate their vision on an object, and as a patient recovers they regain this ability. This type of a response if most often detected by family members or caregivers that have worked directly with the patient. Eye tracking is not necessarily enough to show that a person is recovering from PVS because patients may not show any other evidence of other meaningful response to the environment. More difficulties with eye tracking may come into play because of the possibility of other neurological or ophthalmological damage that may prevent a patient from tracking stimuli. This means that a patient may actually have a degree of recovery that will be missed because it cannot be detected through eye tracking. Emotional response is also difficult to determine because a response must be directly related to specific stimulus. This can be difficult because patients in PVS can scream, cry, grunt or have other actions associated with emotional responses, which are not done in response to stimuli. Therefore significant testing must be done to determine that emotional responses are not being done randomly, but are performed as responses.

A patient recovering from PVS usually recovers in a progressive manner where they move into a post vegetative state. Some patients have recovered significantly. Individuals with relatively short periods of time in PVS have been able to regain nearly normal physical and mental capabilities. There has also been documentation of individuals recovering from periods of PVS lasting over a year who have been able to regain the ability to think, communicate and recover a fair level of physical independence (move without a wheelchair, and feed themselves) (CRA 54).

You and I cannot presume to know what my sister wants. I've never asked her, so I cannot give you a definitive answer.

Ok. I think I got that right. I can't believe no judge will help Terri. I can't believe the govener has the power to stop the execution of a criminal but not Terri. I am so frustrated about this cause it's so wrong.

I said this to someone else, but I have been thinking about this; Terri's parents want her. They want her alive and to take care of her. That makes her life valuable. If she really is little more than a house plant, as Felos said, then it doesn't hurt Terri to stay alive, now does it?

Funerals are not for the dead. They can not attend the party.

We do somethings for our loved ones, like funerals. More than anything else, Terri loved her parents---which has never been disproved--- and she would want to make them happy. More than anything else, she would HATE all the pain her husband has caused her parents. She would not want to inflict the pain her death would cause on her parents. What about THOSE wishes of Terri? Why can we not honor them? Wouldn't Terri have given her life, to spare them pain? Then let her.

Michael Schiavo has not been a model husband.

He lives adulterously with Jodi Centozone, with whom he has had two children. In a monumental conflict of interest that should disqualify him from deciding Terri's fate, her death would facilitate his marriage to Jodi while Terri's existence only complicates their lives.

After wining control of Terri's treatment, plus medical malpractice and other legal awards totaling some $1.6 million, Michael had Terri's cats, Shanna and Tolly, put to sleep.

He told attorneys in November 1992 that he took Terri's engagement and wedding rings and "made a ring for myself."

Terri's family complains that Michael has denied Terri speech-, occupational- and other therapies that could strengthen her mind.

According to the September 2003 deposition of Terri's nurse, Carla Iyer, Michael asked, "Can't you do anything to accelerate her death?" and "When is that bitch gonna die?" When Terri's health waned, Iyer said he would exclaim, "I'm going to be rich!" then discuss plans to buy a car, boat, and European vacation.

Terri's family cites a September 5, 1991 bone scan by Dr. W. Campbell Walker, M.D. It lists "compression fracture[s]" throughout Terri's body and concludes: "The patient has a history of trauma." They wonder if Terri suffered domestic violence.

Sad, huh?

You know, the only problem here is the judge.

He is the problem.

I wonder how the petition is coming along to impeach him.

Oh my. How horrible. I hate to say it but it really sounds similar to this case.

Thanks for posting that. Thats exactly how it was. She wasn't really old either. She was 68 which isn't really old. She was very active and lived in her own house and still drove her car. Then she went to the emergency room sick at her stomach and they decided she was having a heart attack without even testing her. Then they did open heart surgery and everything just went to hell from there on. One day she was fine, then she never came home again. She had acid reflux disease and I honestly think she was having a flare up of that and not a heart attack.

It's amazing the courts through hearsay regarding one passing comment, extrapolation and conjecture could determine that Terri would want to be/should be STARVED TO DEATH but REFUSE to use the same standards and methods to determine Terri would want to be/should be DIVORCED.

That argument does not fly. More publicity on that argument. Much, much more.

Or perhaps it is Terri's parents that don't want her to try and eat anything? Because if she were to choke, I suppose there is a DNR in place, and she would die. Is that it?
