Per Fox News...
Don't you think if it was 'God's will' that Terri die, then she would die. God has NOT chosen to take her yet. He can, at any time, if it is His will, nothing we can do will stop Him.
Right, that's harder to find out. Indeed there is no accurate way to discover this. All that we have to go on are the spontaneously-recollected hearsay testimony of one man with a clear conflict of interest.
With that in mind, there's only one thing to do, err on the side of caution and keep her alive. Making her dead is irreversible. If she is kept alive and we should somehow later discover (through technological advances or whatever) that she wants to be dead, well then maybe that could start a new discussion about that. But on the flip side, if we kill her now and then it turns out she wanted to be alive after all, well tough luck.
The situation is not symmetric.
Please see reply #119, also meant for you.
We are preventing her from releasing her body and joining God in Heaven.
I can not explain my firm spiritual beliefs about this subject in any other way.
What Freepers are doing is simply outstanding. On this specific issue, I honestly feel that we are wrong.
I can not help how I convieve of God and spirituality. However, this is one of my must fundimental beliefs.
The church, if they would really like to help, should do this first step, annul the marriage. Then, on Terri's behalf, they should petition the state for a divorce.
How many lawsuits will the state like to fight? This can only help Terri's cause.
Mike needs some lawsuits as well. Former nurses aides for Terri need to sue. Anyone who comes into contact with Schiavo needs to sue him. Pretty cheap to file a lawsuit, but expensive to fight them. Mike is running out of money. Back him into a corner. He can not take a lot of this, he has two little kids, debts and girlfriends to juggle!
You do that, and you'll never see both sides of the issue. I'd much prefer a good robust debate, even if it's among a bunch of screwballs who pretend to know all the facts of the matter.
But even that shouldn't matter. I believe all agree that she has brain damage. Since when does that make a person KILLABLE?
I think we fall into a trap if we base our case on "she might recover". Even if she never "recovers" she's still an alive human being.
So, is that basis on which Greer issued the stay? That's very confusing, since only MS can authorize medical testing and there's no way he will allow it.
Does she know she's alive?
We can only project ourselves into her situation.
Easy to ponitifcate on one's own life's wishes...
best to put it in writing NOW or, tattoo it on your
backside.
Instead of waving balloons in her face, I'd
rather see her caretakers attempt to spoon feed her.
Like I stated before:
I will continue to pray NOT for a desired outcome, but for God's will to be done and it shall.
IF thats the case. then it will be taken care off because judges can't make law, only interpret. I searched for the Court stenographer's transcript on FR but couldn't find it. Maybe you have the link saved so i can read it? and while you are at it I'll need the FR link to the entire Florida constitution and bylaws so i can look at those as well. you know what, thats too hard. I'll just take your word for it and that Greer needs to burn in hell!
"A total of 659 children ages 14 and under died in 1997 from airway obstructions"
"Children most often choke on food items."
Let's stop feeding children because they might die from eating and choking.
I agree....
I know.
And I agree with you.
March 18 is three weeks from today. Didn't they ask for 60 days? And he gave them 21? He's not having a change of heart.
I will not hesitate to add, that many on the "save Terri" side of the argument seem to think they are above God in this whole thing, by reiterating the fact that "this is what Terri wants...." over, and over, and over and over, ad infinitum.
Time to change your religion, honey. My God doesn't advocate murder...too bad yours obviously does.
i've told my wife not to keep me alive if i ever end up in Terri's condition. you are all my witnesses. please defend her and me if she ever "spontaneously recollects hearsay testimony."
You are in Terri's condition. You eat and drink.
A judge on Friday extended for three weeks a court order keeping Terri Schiavo's feeding tube in place, the latest development in a long-running family feud over the fate of the brain-damaged woman.
Pinellas Circuit Court Judge George Greer made his decision after pleadings from the woman's parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, that they need more time to pursue additional medical tests which might prove their daughter has more mental capabilities than previously thought.
The ruling came two days after the parents sought court protection to keep their son-in-law from ordering doctors to remove the feeding tube. The tube keeps the 41-year-old disabled woman alive.
The husband, Michael Schiavo, says he is seeking to carry out his wife's wishes not to be kept alive artificially. The judge extended the stay until March 18.
State officials also are trying to intervene in the case. Attorneys for the Schindlers said the state wants a 60-day stay to investigate allegations that she is being mistreated by being denied appropriate medical care and rehabilitation.
