If Syria gives us any difficulties across the border, as they are doing in Iraq, then we are justified in striking back.

We are ALREADY justified in anihilating Syria. Besides, I think we should go in NOW -- BEFORE the Hezbollah and other terrorists, and those CACHES OF SOME OF SADDAM'S WMD's get moved out of the Bekaa.

Oh, I agree with you a hundred percent. But with all the whiners in the media and Democrat obstructionists, it pays for Bush to have a good case to present to the public.

TexasCajun:Bill Clinton's idea of a successful foreign policy was to make sure Hillary had a convicting schedule come travel time!
TonyRo76:Der Schlickmeister spent 8 years looking for a legacy.

"When you walk into the presidency as a fully formed adult your first thought is, 'What should I do first and how and when?' When you walk into it with more vanity than sense, more hunger than purpose, your first thought is of what history will say of you. ... Mr. Clinton spent all his time thinking about his legacy, and by the end he had one: He was the president who spent his time thinking about his legacy -- while Osama made his plans. He wasted history's time." -- Peggy Noonan, HERE

Clinton would have to remove the sink traps to find any sign of his legacy.....it went down the drain...

Remember?

As much as I hate the idea of Clinton backing the wrong side in the Kosovo war, it occurs to me that from a purely tactical point of view, the Kosovo war is a good model for a method of forcing a government to pull back troops from a region. And we did it without a single soldier. We could do the same against Syria. Take out their military installations from the air. And not allow them to build new military installations until they pulled back.

And --- continuing with the Kosovo model --- we don't have to go to the UN for a permission slip.

I hope I don't have to post, "Bashir, it's time to clear your calendar." Why? Because the last two times I posted that comment, Saddam and bin Laden lost their respective countries. (Hehehe)

Hey, Assad baby, tick, tick, tick,...

When confronted by a bunch of goons, target the leader, and watch the others fall in line....just like Iraq.

Since no one else has done it, I'll make the obvious bad pun and say that Syria is between Iraq and a hard place.

Seriesly, they're looking at Israel on one side and the US on the other, and keeping Lebanon isn't nearly as important as keeping Damascus.

True Steve, but if Syria attacked Lebanon from the rear, would Greece help?

Sorry, just couldn't help it.

And today Egypt announces plans for free and open elections.

The times they are a changin'.....and it's all Dubya's fault.

Add to that the news that President Mubarak of Egypt has just announced that there will be multi-party elections next cycle (as opposed to referenda). The un-opposed leaders in that part of the world have woken up to the fact that a little self-determined democracy is preferable to a whole lot of democracy provided by the U.S. Marines.

This is very quickly heading towards game, set, match = GEORGE W. BUSH. The DUmocrats must be deeply saddened.
