As usual, Iowahawk does his subjects better than they ever did themselves.
I am sooooooo glad I never have to prove how hip I am by reading Thompson again. I don't think I could do it without the drugs.

pure genius.
A return to impeachment greatness!

Absolutely brilliant. You've captured the real life cartoon essence of HT. ;-)

That's the funniest thing I've read in a long time.

Do you freely admit to having a Rolling Stone subscription in 1972 ?
Another great piece, Hawk.

The lesbian was screaming, and the two Aryan Hitler Youth were screaming, and the grotesque talking dog jumped into the arms of the whimpering hippie boy. The whole series summed up nicely in twenty six words.

Velma never struck me as lesbian and still doesn't. Sorry. And I think it'spretty sad that so many adults can look at a fairly harmless children's cartoon and all they can see are gays, lesbians, and metaphors for drug use.

Not at all. I never thought Velma seemed lesbian to me. I also find it sad that people can't look at anything anymore, including old children's cartoons, without pushing some crypto-homosexual or adult interpretation on top of it. In fact, it's the idea that everything needs to be cynical or sarcastic that's part of what I find so sad. Do we really have to tear everything apart and make fun of it like this?

Don't want to speak for anyone, but maybe this is a parody on Hunter Thompson's possible take on the cartoon, not meant to be taken as an attack on a beloved talking dog and his zany human companions...
To: SalukiLawyer
Yeah, I know that. But deconstructing Scooby-Doo has become quite common and popular, from scenes in the live action movie that never made it to the screen to the parody in the last Jay and Silent Bob movie.
