Bush, and Putin know exactly that we share common goal to arrest/eradicate Muslim extremism and terrorism. We should make a good effort not to let ANYTHING distracts us from that core goal.

But the stakes are high. Putin has been acting like a mad tyrant. Nevertheless we need to work with Russia as an ally on the war against terror as far as we possibly can. Or if not, we need to keep the options open in hopes that someone more sensible will eventually take over. Or Putin will get religion. Or something.
