LONDON (AP) -- Anglican primates agreed Thursday that the U.S. Episcopal Church and the Anglican Church of Canada would withdraw from a key body of the global Anglican Communion after failing to overcome internal church disagreements about the election of a gay bishop in the United States and the blessing of same-sex unions there and in Canada.

What took them so long?
"What took them so long?"
Not entirely unexpected.......
Wow. wow.
Henry VIII must be rolling over in his grave.
For the Jesuits in Rome
"PING"
He sure looks gay...
BOUT TIME!
What do you mean?
You liberals always confuse tolerance with acceptance. We have to tolerate certain lifestyle choices but that in no way means we have to accept it or agree with it.
Henry VIII had nothing to do with either the Anglican or Episcopal churches. Old wife's tale.
former Episcopalian.
".....fall pretty short of what Christianity should be about."
Why don't you tell us what Christianity should be about?
Please. Explain it to everyone.

"Henry VIII had nothing to do with either the Anglican or Episcopal churches"
I wouldn't go so far as to say "nothing" but Henry wasn't a real supporter of the protestant movement. His issue with Rome was more political than doctrinal. His daughter restored England's favor with Rome, but of course there is more to THAT story as well.......
"I won't hesitate to say it starts with not making crude slurs about bishops. But maybe that's just me."
All US Episcopalians were just thrown out of the Anglican Communion because of him, and his proclivity.....I'd say there is little more one could do to slur a bishop.....and with good reason.
