I wonder if Bishop Robinson will leave his gay lover's backside long enough tonight to realize that his rhetoric from a few months back about how this would "bring the Anglican church to a new plateau of unity" was all garbage.

You liberals always confuse tolerance with acceptance. We have to tolerate certain lifestyle choices but that in no way means we have to accept it or agree with it.

He's not gay. He just misinterpreted Titus 1:7 - 8 where it says "a bishop must be" ... "a lover of good men"
/sarcasm

".....fall pretty short of what Christianity should be about."

Why don't you tell us what Christianity should be about?

Please. Explain it to everyone.

"Henry VIII had nothing to do with either the Anglican or Episcopal churches"

I wouldn't go so far as to say "nothing" but Henry wasn't a real supporter of the protestant movement. His issue with Rome was more political than doctrinal. His daughter restored England's favor with Rome, but of course there is more to THAT story as well.......

"I won't hesitate to say it starts with not making crude slurs about bishops. But maybe that's just me."

All US Episcopalians were just thrown out of the Anglican Communion because of him, and his proclivity.....I'd say there is little more one could do to slur a bishop.....and with good reason.
