Possibly the single most stupid act of Ashcroft's reign as AG. Sleeper cells of terrorists all over the country, borders run amock - and he had the bright idea to put Tommy Chong in jail. For basically nothing.
Good Riddence John Ashcroft.

Chongs long career began in 1938 in Edmonton, Alberta, where he commanded the attention of his parents by shitting his diapers, dribbling and crying for milk. That answers a few questions I've always had.

Huh what? You agree with his incarceration? What exactly did he do to warrant it?

The pinnacle of his career, it has been downhill ever since.

RE: Ashcroft's blunder
'Retarded' is the kind way to characterize it - 'malicious' might be closer to the truth.

LOL yeah
Tommy Chong can be funny as all get out, but he's a narrow-minded dumbass fry-brain.
I'm not necessarily condoning his jail time for selling paraphernalia, but just listen to the nonsense coming out of that man's mouth.
The author of this piece about makes me ill with his fawning all over Chong.
To: FlJoePa
Chong is a funny guy, Cheech and Chong was a very funny act but the material is dated. Putting anybody in jail for selling bongs is just stupid. There is no better example of prosecutorial excess.
To: FlJoePa
Yeah, sounds like he had a real tough time in the big house. All that gardening and meditating in natural surroundings really takes it's toll.
To: billorites
He was too small a man for the job.

Chong got railroaded. Good to see he's in good spirits. His films with Cheech were classics. I think someday they will be thought of on the same level as Laurel & Hardy.
To: FlJoePa
I never did smoke that much pot; never was a big pothead. I was more of a weightlifter. Maybe once in a while, you know, "
That's hilarious. Who would have guessed.
I've met a lot of show business people and Tommy Chong and Cheech were far and away the nicest and most respectful that I've met. Often public figures are quite different when not under the media glare.

"Yeah, sounds like he had a real tough time in the big house. All that gardening and meditating in natural surroundings really takes it's toll." So that makes it right. That he was thrown in jail for having his likeness on a piece of blown glass?
Maybe they'll come after you next and you can do some meditating. Or me.
