New Maine House Bill Would Protect Fetuses Carrying the ‘Gay Gene’: Limbaugh ahead of the curve

AUGUSTA, Maine -– Rep. Brian Duprey (R-Hampden) has submitted a bill to the State Legislature to shield potentially homosexual fetuses from discrimination. LD 908, “An Act to Protect Homosexuals from Discrimination,” attempts to protect homosexuals from death because they might carry the gene that could lead to homosexuality.

This bill as drafted would make it a crime to abort an unborn child if that child is determined to be carrying the “homosexual gene.” Duprey said that no such genetic marker has yet been discovered. But considering rapid advancements in genetic mapping research, he wants legislation in place should such a breakthrough occur. “If the homosexual gene is ever determined to exist,” he said, “I want to ensure that a woman could not abort an unborn child simply because that child is determined to be carrying this gene.”

Duprey received the idea for this bill when listening to the Rush Limbaugh radio show. “I heard Rush saying that the day the ‘gay gene’ is determined to be real, that overnight gays would become pro-life,” Duprey said.

“Most people would agree that to kill someone just because that person might be gay would constitute a hate crime,” said Duprey. “I have heard from women who told me that if they found out that they were carrying a child with the gay gene, then they would abort. I think this is wrong. Those unborn children should be protected.”

Rep. Duprey is serving in his third term representing the towns of Hampden, Newburgh and Dixmont. He is the lead Republican on the Labor Committee.

This makes perfect sense, to me. The "Gays" generally claim that their lifestyle is not a choice - rather, they were "born gay." Therefore, we must preserve all fetuses until the time that the "gay gene" is identified. Granted, if that ever happens, the law will only protect "gay fetuses."

From a pro-gay site: (I didn't goto the site, it is from google cache)

...The legislation was filed by Rep. Brian Duprey (R-Hampden). Last year Duprey sponsored a bill that would have amended the Maine constitution to bar gay marriage. The measure was voted down, (story) but Duprey said he remains opposed to same-sex unions and may make another attempt at getting passage of the proposed amendment.

Doesn't sound like a democrat or RINO to me...

The Ultimate Woman's Choice:

Bank several eggs; shop at the Sperm Bank for an
"acceptible" male donor contribution; order the
sperm, altered to ensure the chosen sex and other
desired qualities; sign and pay via the plastic
credit card; wait 3 months while the artificial
womb nurtures the child. Finally, have the Nanny
pick up the end-product at the Bank.

The Dummies don't like this at all. The recognize it as a dangerous wedge issue that can be potentially very damaging to them.

You gotta LOVE this. This will twist the libs in knots.

Here's another issue to ponder: What if the non-aborted gay fetus turns out to be heterosexual (you know, normal)? Would he or she not then be guilty of pre-partum fraud? Is that punishable by post-partum abortion?

This really isn't about the actual reality of a gay gene, but rather Republicans pointing out the obvious logical flaws in the liberal mindset and exploiting them for the entertainment of conservatives everywhere :-)

Isn't it equally possible that there is a "straight" gene if there is a "gay" gene? Shouldn't a fetus with the "straight" gene be given equal protection?

That's next. We do this like the liberals do in promoting their agenda. One small step at a time.

This whole thing sounds like a novelty-esque waste of tax payers money. Like they don't have anything better to be discussing.

You most likely are right. What about the "alcoholic gene"?

;-)

But it's not a "hate crime" to discard a future-someone with Downs' syndrome? Is this liberal logic or what!

Now how about a bill that protects the gene of any baby that says, "heh I love life and want to live out my life until I'm old"....now that's a bill well overdue.

Apparently, judging by the responses thus far, a little philosophical jujitsu is just too complex for some FReepers to grasp.

You may be right. I don't want to give Duprey credit if this is not his intention, but it could very well be.

Check out post #43.

I didn't know a gay gene had been identified, is this true?

Yes, a Democrat with an "R" next to his name. This should be a wake-up call for all of the "true believers."

I'm not so sure this isn't actually a great idea.

HEY DIMS - Who ya gonna tick off? Your gay constituency or your pro-choice constituency? (It's like the confused 'environmentalist' pondering what to do if an endangered animal's only diet is an endangered plant species.)

This guy is a Republican....he is either whacked out one or one trying to open a Pandora's box on the left and get them to think Limbaugh style.

Doncha get it? The guy is conservative but introducing a bill that plays two liberal sacred cows against each other. They have to admit either that it's okay to kill gays or that unborn children are worthy of protection.

Some only think it one dimension. This is a brilliant move.

Alright, I need some Freepers to help me out on this one, because I'm confused.

I gather that this bill is meant to protect an unborn "gay" child from being aborted by their redneck, Jesus-freak (and hence naturally insane) mother.

Now, if the mother (whom this law is meant to apply to) is indeed a member of the evil Religious RightTM, wouldn't she...you know...kinda sorta...be against abortion to begin with? Regardless of whether or not the child fetus is gay, liberal or the ghost of Karl Marx?

Can someone give me a clue here? I'm lost as to why in the h*ll this legislation is necessary beyond "raising awareness" of a non-issue...
