A New York City school official, red-faced over Brooklyn sixth-graders who slammed a GI with anti-Iraq-war letters, said Tuesday they are sending the 20-year-old private a letter of apology.
Deputy Schools Chancellor Carmen Farina plans to personally contact Pfc. Rob Jacobs and his family, a spokeswoman told the New York Post.
Teacher Alex Kunhardt had his students write Jacobs as part of a social studies assignment.
He declined to comment on whether he read the rants before passing them along, but said he planned to contact Jacobs soon to explain.
In an accompanying letter to Jacobs, Kunhardt said the students come from a variety of backgrounds and political beliefs, but unanimously support the bravery and sacrifice of American soldiers around the world.
Support was not the word that came to Jacobs mind when he read the letters, the Post noted.
One girl wrote that she believes Jacobs is being forced to kill innocent people and challenged him to name an Iraqi terrorist, concluding, I know I cant.
Uplifting letters from children are dear to soldiers, Jacobs said. He looks at a batch he got from a Girl Scout troop from his hometown of Middletown, N.J., whenever he feels lonely.
Jacobs said he would welcome a letter from the Department of Education and the teacher.
I want to think these letters were coached by the teacher or the parents of these children, Jacobs told the Post from Camp Casey, South Korea. It boggles my mind that children could think this stuff.
"In a just world, this vile bastard would be hauled into the street by WE THE PEOPLE, tarred and feathered, branded on the forehead with a red "T", and run out of town."
Actually, justice would be for the whole lot of them tarred, feathered, branded and run out of this country permanently. My patience is definitely wearing thin with these leftists and America haters.
One of the mothers was on Hannity radio today. She was an absolute anti-American B*TCH.
"My kids LOVE our soldiers and ADORE GWB"
me too, d'back... me too
"One of the mothers was on Hannity radio today. She was an absolute anti-American B*TCH"
I caught most of that too. She continually talked over the soldier's dad (what a truly class act he is, bless him) and Sean. Didn't let either of them get much of a word in, and with Hannity, that's a feat! There was one caller who did a great job of putting her in her place.
Nope. Most Duers would probably happily work for the enemy too
I saw this on Hannity & Combes. Combes stood up for the commie teacher and badgered the soldier's father. Typical disgusting combes.
>A conference for K through graduate school unionists,
>educators, students and activists who oppose the war in Iraq
We're always hearing how poor they are, and yet they have all this free time!
I wish society would make it a point to ignore those who complain all the time.
I wish society would make it a point to ignore those who complain all the time.
Hard to when they are obnoxiously loud and unending and are rotting the world around them to the point that they can not be ignored. If all they did was wallow in their own crapulance, it would be easy to ignore them, problem is that there squeeky wheel approach always get the oil from likeminded nitwits.
On a positive note, I will say that I have actually seen several left-wing sites that are condemning the use of children to fullfill a teachers political ideology.

After some of the letters were read on Hannity and Colmes, my first thought was, "When did SIXTH graders learn to write such neat letters with such impressive wording?"
That is when my B$ / moron detector went off in the non-stop mode. When I heard that B*+c# defending the letters on Hannity's show yesterday, I wanted to call in and give her a piece of my mind.
There is no way all those sixth graders could write almost totally anti-war letters with one or two "Thanks" embedded in a few of the letters without coaching.
Alan Colmes and the B*+c# are as full of $#!+ as a Christmas turkey, if they think no one helped those kids.
Rant mode off [for now].
Aguy who worked with his dad said "hey, can my daughter's class send letters to your son?" and Dad had no idea when he gave the address that something this abhorrent would happen.

I was listening to the mother of the mini-Marxist, too, on Hannity yesterday.
It was infuriating! The father of the soldier was very restrained; it amazed me because this woman was callous, arrogant and not once did she mention his son, or his son's feelings in this matter. Nor did she apologize, but kept talking about how upset her hate-spewing daughter was. Her little socialist can go pop on playstation and get over it, can't she. And by the way, it was quite obvious her daughter was not upset about hurting a soldier, but upset that her teacher was under fire. Has it ever occurred to this self-absorbed leftist witch that many children will never see their fathers again, because they paid the ultimate price for our country? You want to talk about "upset"?
Sean tried to get her to come on his tv show, with the father of the soldier, but she wouldn't do it. You see, her daughter was already too "upset".
I said it yesterday; that the parents were just as culpable, that a child raised by parents who value our country would have been hard pressed to write such letters. No one could have gotten my eight year old to do it. And I don't believe these kids would have willingly wrote this vile hateful garbage if they weren't already getting these opinions at home.
The dad said on Hannity yesterday that his son was asked if he would like Christmas cards from kids, and that is what he said yes to. Look at what he got instead. To add insult to injury, the mother of one of these little pukes kept asking why the soldier didn't answer the questions posed? (Like is killing an innocent civilian "horrible or great?")
This is truly one of the most vile stories about public schools I've seen yet.

I wonder if that will really happen. I think its just window dressing for the media until the firestorm dies down. And the mother of one of the letter writers said on Hannity yesterday how "proud she was of her daughter".
It really is a disgrace, an absolute disgrace.

I have never wanted so badly to reach through a radio and slap someone silly as I did this wretched, horrible woman. She was rude to the father, insulted Sean's audience, defended the students and the teacher, and the only time she mentioned Pfc. Jacobs, was when she said he should have answered the students "questions".
I would love to find out who she is. Maybe dad should release her name.
My 6th grade grandson and I listened to Sean, Monique, and Mr. Jacobs when I was taking him to his confirmation studies yesterday. He could not believe that mom, or what the kids had written to the soldiers. We also got to listen to the callers 'correct' the mom's ideas. (His uncle spent a year in Tikrit.)
Her name is Monique Sena, from Park Slope, Brooklyn. I found a letter to the editor in the NY Post today and it reads verbatim what this woman said on the radio last night.
Out of a million military personnel, why did they select a soldier in South Korea for this? There's more to this story......
