The fraud, posing as her "husband", has divorced her & remarried, and therefore maintains no legal standing from which to dictate her fate.

He has reportedly told others that given they were only 25 at the time, of course they never discussed what she would want under the circumstances.

Terry has a loving family that does want, desparately, to take care of her.

When you add to all of this the distinct possiblity that he is responsible for her current state, there is no plausible reason that Michael should have a say in Terry's fate.

Totally agree. Now in Saudi Arabia they could probably get away with that, but here in America...oh yeah...never mind. God bless Terri and the Schindlers.

You don't know what you are talking about. Maybe because you quote people who are freaking wrong, and the evidence to prove it is right in their faces and yours.

Radiologists and neurologists have repeatedly evaluated Terri Schiavo and have testified under oath that she has no brain. In the words of three radiologists " a radiographic exmination of the patients' cranium reveals no extant cerebral cortex. Posterior and anterior views reveal 2,100 mililiters of cerebral spinal fluid."

They said the same about Karen Ann Quinlan. And there are people walking around whose brains are, at least in broad structural terms, even worse than Terri's.

Now...It is fairly axiomatic that in the absence of a brain there is no cognitve function. Now for the hard moral choices. If the remaining body minus the brain was harvested for organs at least five people would live. Two kidneys, two lobes of the liver and one heart. So...by keeping Terri Schiavo " alive" ( I contend she died her brain died) you deny life to five other people. So in the hard calculus of sanctity, is it justifiable to allow five others to die to prove a point?

If Terri's brain were in as bad a state as you claim, she would not be able to do the things she does. Ergo, the brain is not in as bad a state as you claim.

As I was joking with someone once: if someone walks into your office, you measure their blood pressure, and the device reads 0/0, do you fill out a death certificate or do you decide you got a bad reading?

Not so easy now is it?

What's the difficulty?

It's pretty easy considering you can see the videos and plainly see she has conscious thought.

Amen to your prayer and all the others here.

Lord, Father God, you are the one just Judge. You alone have the right to say when life enters the world, and when life should be ended.

Father, in your omnipotent power, we beg you to overrule all earthly judges who would end Terri's life prematurely.

Hold Terri and her family in Your Arms, give them the consolation they need right now, and do not let Terri's life end one second sooner than You, in your Almighty Wisdom and Goodness, shall decide. Amen.

Michael refuses to divorce Terri. Rumor has it (anyone got a cite?) that it's because it would be against his fiancées religion. His conduct would cause any divorce-court judge to grant an immediate divorce if Terri had an honest guardian to bring such a motion on her behalf. But she doesn't, so Michael remains her HINO guardian.

Please explain the concept of asking St. Jude for intercession.

I'd rather not interrupt the thread, but if you would like more information after our FReepmails were exchanged, please FReepmail me again. Thanks. ;-D

even if they let him have whatever money is left, he wouldn't let them have custody? What if she regained consciousness and memory and could talk ? He doesn't seem to want that.

I don't think Jeb will get involved anymore, JMO

Unfortunately... I think you're right.

But often I wonder if this isn't worth fighting for, what is?

Have a good night, Victoria!

I'd love the media to interview the jurors that awarded him that money and see how they feel now that he's wasted it on everything but rehab.

But the question is does he have a policy on Terri now? That is likely never to be known by us regular folks.

Re: What I don't understand is, what does he stand to gain by her death that a divorce wouldn't do?

According to her parents who are close to this story:

He stands to gain by not being "discovered" in his involvement in her "collapse." There are serious questions about what happened to cause her to collapse as there was never discovered in tests the "chemical imbalance" that the news media always falsely reports.

He is so afraid that she will be able to implicate him that not only does he want her out of the way, but he took care that she would Never receive rehabilitation in order for her not to recover and attest to what happened.

He also has said that he wants her immediately cremated after her death - (which may be against her religious beliefs).

Many people believe that he wants that so there will never be any evidence to convict him if he was involved.

Most of the money he received from the lawsuit for Terri's therapy has already been spent - with a lot of it going to his attorney (a big right to die advocate).

Cremation before a funeral is forbidden under Catholic rules from what I understand. But IIRC Michael has gone further as to say there'd be no memorial service of any sort.
