Texas Mom, Son's Bodies Found; Ex Charged

FORT WORTH, Texas - The ex-boyfriend of a missing pregnant woman has been arrested and charged with capital murder in the case of the woman and her 7-year-old son, whose bodies were found Tuesday, police said.

Bagel shop owner Lisa Underwood, seven months pregnant, and her son, Jayden, were reported missing after she failed to show up at her baby shower Saturday. A pool of blood was found in her home.

Fort Worth police Lt. Gene Jones said Tuesday that the bodies were found and that police would provide more details that afternoon at a news conference in Denton, about 30 miles northeast of Fort Worth, where Underwood's car was found Monday.

Stephen Barbee, 37, of Fort Worth, was arrested Monday night in Tyler and was being brought back to Tarrant County by Fort Worth police. His bail was set at $2 million.

On Monday, Underwood's sport utility vehicle was found partially submerged in a creek near Denton.

Acting on an anonymous tip, police searched a Fort Worth home during the night and found an item referred to by the tipster, but officials would not say what it was or how it figured in their investigation.

Jones said he didn't know why Barbee was in Tyler, how investigators knew to find him there or whether there were other suspects.

"We haven't established a motive, so I can't speak to that," Jones said.

"We know that at one time Mr. Barbee and Ms. Underwood were romantically involved. We don't know what the latest status of that relationship was," he said.

Jones said he didn't know who was the father of Underwood's fetus, but a neighbor of Underwood, Debbie Lindley, said it was Barbee.

Lindley said Underwood and Barbee split up last the fall because Barbee had another girlfriend, but she didn't know of any violent incidents between the couple.

Lindley said Underwood met Barbee about two years ago at the bagel shop. She said Jayden had never met Barbee; the boy always stayed at the Lindleys' home when the couple went on dates.

Lynette Stinson and Don Evans Dallas police said a woman was kidnapped at gunpoint from her home in the city's Redbird neighborhood late Monday night.

Detectives said the suspect, Don Terry Evans, 39, was last seen with Lynette Stinson, 35, as he drove from her home in the 6800 block of Trailcrest.

The victim was last seen in Evans' 1991 Black Lexus with dealer tags, witnesses said.

Evans was described as Stinson's ex-boyfriend.

Police asked anyone with information about Evans or Stinson to call the Dallas Police Family Violence Unit at 214-671-4304.

That's what I thought in the beginning. It looks more like the unborn babies father. But why kill the little boy too? Possibly he was a witness to his mother's murder. Maybe it was physical fight of some kind, she fell hitting her head, he freaked,then came up with the elaborate plan, after the fact. Time will tell. At first I thought the blood had come from that kind of scenario. Now I guess it could be from the pregnancy.

I don't want to start an argument on here but it goes without saying that CS starts and ends with 2 people. NOt just the man. It's our responsiblity also. We need to teach our children that while they are young.

Mr Macho has no trouble killing this beautiful mother, along with her 7 year old son( who's only fault was being alive)dumping the remains in a shallow grave, where vultures and cyotes can devour the remains, but when the cops show up at his brush clearing job in Tyler, he breaks down like the pantywaist he really is and leads investigators to the site. I'm sure Lisa's good name will be dragged through some mud by this he-man machismo redneck's attorney so his client won't become fertilizer in the near future.

He suffocated them both yet there was a huge pool of blood in the house? Eeek. The things that come to mind is that he either dismembered the corpses, which is unlikely, or that he (and maybe his girlfriend) tried to remove the baby from the body of the woman.

Fox just reported that he suffocated Lisa (who stood only 5'2'' and weighed around 110 before she got pregnant) and then when her son walked in, he suffocated him as well. Now if that isn't a girlyman's action, I don't know what is.
