WASHINGTON (AP) - The Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected a challenge to its landmark 1973 ruling legalizing abortion by the woman once known as "Jane Roe," who was at the center of the historic U.S. case.
Without comment, justices declined to hear the appeal from Norma McCorvey and thus dodged a highly charged political debate for now. McCorvey's protest of Texas' abortion ban led to the Roe v. Wade ruling establishing a constitutional right to abortion.
McCorvey, who says she now regrets her role in the decision, argued in court filings that the case should be heard again in light of evidence that abortion harms women.

This is getting ridiculous. We've gotta get our judges in.
Most unfortunate. We'll keep fighting, though.
We need more conservatives on the court.
Yeah... that'll happen. I've no confidence left in our Government. At any level.
"Without comment, justices declined to hear the appeal..."
Gutless turds. At least have the courage to admit WHY you're doing this.
I hate to say this, but we conservatives may have to accept that abortion on demand is a permanent part of the landscape in America. The USSC won't even allow a ban on partial-birth abortion to be enacted in the states. They clearly have no stomach at all for revisiting this issue.
So sad what this nation has come to. And to think that these judges are the best we've got. Prayers that it is not too late to turn America back to God.
They will if we replace the judges. Think long term.
The U.S. Supreme Court and liberals admitting they slaughtered millions of babies for their own personal preferences? They would sooner admit the genocide they initiated in Vietnam or disavow communism. Good luck.
I understand what you're saying, but to me it seems almost a mathematical impossibility. It would require not only conservative Republican presidents to get elected for the next 15-20 years, but a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate for the next 15-20 years as well, as the Democrats clearly have made abortion on demand their #1 litmus test for the court. We can't even get the lower courts filled with Bush's appointees right now.
Accept? NEVER! We'll gird ourselves with the armor of God and fight it with every ounce of strength we have.
There is NO justice left in America!!! We have been betrayed once again by the highest court in the land and those sorry SOB'S KNOW they are appointed for life. I sure hope our congress does something about it, but I don't count on them to do it.
Have faith brother, we have been watch a slow motion train wreck since 1994.
The Democrate Party was take over by the far left raticals culimnating with the election of Clinton, he became the "Engineer" with his lovely wife Bruno as the Fire Man, and my what a bang up job they have done.
When Bozo and her husband entered the picture the Democatic Party controlled BOTH Houses of Congress, the White House, the Courts, the "Media" and majoriety of the State Governments.
All they have left are the courts, and that is not going well. They are about to be "nuked" on Judical Apointments and the Governed are begining to rise up against the "Activest Judicary".
The panic you see with the Left is the realisation that the engine and the front 7/8 of the train is off the bridge and is draging them with it.
Want to see Clinton's legecy? Just watch this train wreck and smile.
no shock on this one.
The Supreme Court, over that past 20 years, has taken a path of not ruling on Constitutional issues (which they are supposed to rule on) and ruling on issues of which the Constitution did not give them authority.
There is no justice with that group.
They're not....they're just what we have there at the time. Hopefully, in time (the sooner the better) that will change for the better.
II Chron 7:14
lets be honest, this was a long shot from the start.
Those who stated that this should not have been brought up at this time were correct. It should have come after another justice or two was appointed when there might have been a chance for success. Poor tactics never help.
They can always reintroduce it later...and they will.
