WRITING A WRONG (sixth-graders who slammed a GI..)

February 22, 2005 -- The city Department of Education, red-faced over Brooklyn sixth-graders who slammed a GI with demoralizing anti-Iraq-war letters as part of a school assignment, will send the 20-year-old private a letter of apology today.

Deputy Schools Chancellor Carmen Farina, who has a nephew serving in Iraq, plans to personally contact Pfc. Rob Jacobs and his family, said department spokeswoman Michele McManus Higgins.

"She knows how difficult it is to have a loved one in a war zone," Higgins said.

Jacobs is stationed 10 miles from the North Korean border and who has been told he may be headed to Iraq in the near future.

The GI got the ranting missives last month from pint-sized pen pals at JHS 51 in Park Slope.

Filled with political diatribes, the letters — excerpts of which were printed in yesterday's Post — predicted GIs would die by the tens of thousands, accused soldiers of killing Iraqi civilians and bashed President Bush.

Teacher Alex Kunhardt had his students write Jacobs as part of a social-studies assignment.

Teacher Alex Kunhardt

Notice it does not say "former Teacher Alex Kunhardt.

Public school teachers seem to operate under the same rules that pedophilic priests did for years under unenforced and lax canon law-----do whatever you want to do, because you can't be fired.

I've read earlier posts about this. Thanks for the update.

Now the teacher wants to 'explain' to the soldier? No way, flit-boy, there's no explaining that to our man in the field. Leave him to those of us who give a sh*t!

17. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers' associations. Put the party line in textbooks.

No investigation, no involuntary leave, no nothing but a promise of a platitude.

Brian and Kirin were just talking about this on F&F. They were asking dumb questions like - "didn't the teacher check this stuff before sending it along?"

That's not the problem - I'd say the teacher is the one that's been feeding this tripe to these kids.

Our public education system is badly broken.

Teacher Alex Kunhardt

With a name like that, a social worker might blame this guy's anger on the fact he was cursed from day one.

Excellent idea! Please post the address of this "school" (indoctrination center) and we will write Alex Kunhardt there. That way his principal will know that people all over the nation deplore what this teacher has done to the children in his care. Turning them into children who hate their country and their president is not the reason citizens pay big bucks in taxes to operate schools.

The article ends:

"It boggles my mind that children could think this stuff."

The children did not think it. They were fed it by their teacher. Anybody know truly radicalized sixth graders? They are just repeating the substance of what their elders were telling them.

Alex Kunhardt needs to take a trip to Iraq.
A sabbatical, if you will.

This is just plain ole ideological BS.

Why have conservatives surrendered our school system to such conniving bastards?

Brian got on a rant at the end of the discussion - wants an investigation into 'who is feeding this stuff to 6th grraders...'

The school involved here is JHS 51 in Park Slope near Prospect Park in Brooklyn.

Here are two additional write ups concerning this outrage ~

Unfortunately for now that's just an assumption, but apparently many around here have signed onto it as Gospel. I have my suspicions as well, especially since this teacher forwarded the mail with a cover letter. But we don't know.

I'd say at best this teacher is guilty of forwarding this crap without reading/vetting it.
