The committee, which was set up in December 2003Fifteen months of great lunches in exotic locales. Imagine the numbers of shrimp and lobsters that gave their lives for the UN cause...

lol! The UN sees itself as being the "check/balance" to the US. And the lefties support this concept. As do their luminaries, and big rollers.

China was leading efforts to globalize Internet control ...(and) was joined in its efforts by representatives of Syria, Egypt, Vietnam and South AfricaOh yeah, this would be great.
The Left would have no problem with this, because they want these people to like us.

Free Republic would be shut down in a heartbeat.

They couldn't run a birthday party for a 3 year old never mind the internet With Bill Clinton as Secretary General, a little hair coloring and some Chuckie Cheese invitations there could be real progress made. Janet Reno, Hillary and Michael Jackson would certainly volunteer to sing "We Are the World."

At the time, China was leading efforts to globalize Internet control. Beijing allows its own citizens online access, but only with government surveillance. China was joined in its efforts by representatives of Syria, Egypt, Vietnam and South Africa. You can have my mouse when they pry it from my cold dead hands.

"There is an issue that is out there and that needs to be resolved," Nitin Desai, chairman of the panel and special adviser to U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan, told Reuters
Indeed there is Mr. Desai..and the way to resolve the issue is to remove you and your like to a more hospitable country.

Free Republic would be shut down in a heartbeat. It and hundreds of thousands of other sites like it would simply go underground. The means exist now for a completely separate internet. If they get their sanitized, regulated, taxed, politically correct internet, I guarantee you'll see it springing back to life on private modems and pirate servers worldwide. There's no stopping it now.

There is an issue that is out there and that needs to be resolved And we all know what it is. It's the UN, itself.

The terrorist-UN uses sex slaves, food-for-sex, and now wants to control
all Internet chat rooms to obtain even more underage UN sex-slaves.
UN-believable.

I fully support this idea. If there's one thing that will guarantee a free and unfettered internet, it's the incompetent United Nations trying to 'control' it.

If the UN starts running the Internet it will be the end of Free Speech over the net.
