What has Foxs hit TV show 24 done to prompt TV Guide to report 24 in Hot Water and Entertainment Weekly to ask, Has 24 Gone Too Far??
Its bad guys are terrorists who are Muslims. Thats it.
Few of us need reminding that we are not simply waging a war against terror, but against the radical Islam that animates the enemy. The enemy is not coincidentally Muslim, but they are the enemy because their radicalized version of Islam tells them to be. 24, so far at least, understands that.
What makes 24 this season so special, though, is that its the first entertainment production in the post-9/11 era to accurately portray the enemy. The Monday night hit features the Araz family, Turkish Muslim immigrants who live in suburbiaand are a sleeper cell for an unnamed terrorist outfit.
In recent episodes, the teenage son starts developing a conscience, and his father senses something is amiss with his only child. So, the father has a member of his goon squad take away his son to have him murdered. (The plan failed.) He felt his son had become too Americanized in his years here, and no longer regarded him as his own flesh and blood.
Explaining to his wife how he could have ordered the murder of their son, he said, Were all expendable. One of the other terrorist operatives from a previous episode also saw himself as expendable, driving head-on into an 18-wheeler when he believed he was being followed by police.
This, of course, is part of the Jihadist ideology, where little value is placed on individual life. And 24 deserves credit for getting it right.

i heard a cair rep on kfyi in phoenix when i was visiting last year and he slid all around the issue of terrorism.
never did condemn it.
TV Guide has the concession on COX Cable. Time to complain to COX about their venture into becoming a vehicle for AlQaida support team activities.
"24" can't create as bad an image of Islamics as the one they have created for themselves.
WTF is CAIR whining about?
-Eric
"Kudos to Fox for not casting these terrorists as some Caucasian misfits."
Yeah, especially because then they could never have gotten that great actress who plays the mom. OK, I'll admit, she's good enough she could probably play, convincingly, the caucasian misfit, but still!
Don't assume too much. "24" has started before with politically incorrect villains, only to have the ultimate bad guys wind up being the typical oil/corporate interests. And just a few minutes ago, a new white villain came forth on the show.
So don't discount the possibility that, in the end, the Muslims bad guys will just be the underlings for some Right Wing militia, or something stupid like that.
But otherwise, yes Fox should be commended for getting it right so far at least.
You mean like in the previous three seasons of 24? This is the fourth season featuring Jack Bauer and CTU (Counter-Terrorist Unit), and the first to have Muslim bad guys...
The previous bad guys were white Serbians and a former British MI6 agent (also white).
Funny, no one complained during the previous seasons...
I thought the fan in my computer was whining, but now I see that I had the CAIR website up in the background.
Don't watch tonights episode then. CAIR should not have made a big deal out of it.
eventually everbody will figure it out,
we're at war!
Truth hurts, heh Islamo Bastards ?
Amazing ..Shumer usually has NO balls what so ever..He's still a jerkin my book .One of the bIGGEST frauds ever to hit the political stage
Let me guess... Money-hungry defense contractors gone bad? Or, maybe former East Germans? Or, ex-KGB agents? Or maybe just some homegrown McVeigh types? No, French nationals pissed off about the Iraq war?
Yes, she finally kicked the bucket. Good for her. Couldn't have happened to a nicer witch.
So far, this is the only entertainment production to feature Muslims as terrorists. I've not heard of any movie or any other television series featuring them as terrorists. Yet, let one show do so, and the Chiraq hits the fan.
I can see it now: they are all employed by Halliburton!
