Maybe I don't understand the story totally, but if the recordings are secret; i.e., if the Prez didn't know he was being taped, that's a felony in most jurisdictions, and I believe federally.

Wead has said he recorded only from states where secret recording is legal.
I wonder how he can prove his claim?
OTOH, Wead probably figures if President Bush pushes the issue, it will be a negative for the President.

For example, the recording would be legal in Texas or Georgia, illegal in Florida or Maryland. No federal law seems to be implicated.
